Anxiety about pregnancy

hi everyone! so ive been dealing with this fear for awhile now (since my boyfriend and i started dating). before my boyfriend i have never been sexually active and when i met my boyfriend we started to get sexually active right away. we have been dating for 9 months and we havent had sex not because I am not ready but because of my irrational fear of getting pregnant. i am not on birth control and the only use of BC we would use is a condom and i keep having irrational thoughts about the condom breaking and me getting pregnant etc. my boyfriend and friends always try to relieve my mind and it works for a little bit and the temporary relief is there but my thoughts come spiraling back again.

YOUR FEARS ARE RATIONAL. . ALTHOUGH NOT LIKELY CONDOMS CAN BREAK AND HAVE RESULTED IN PREGNANCY. NOT SOMETHING YOU WOULD WANT AT YOUR STAGE OF LIFE. PLEASE SEE A GYNOCOLOGIST WHO CAN HELP YOU WITH OPTIONS TO SAFELY DEAL WITH THE ISSUE. DON'T LET OTHERS FORCE YOU INTO SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT READY FOR. YOU MAY HAVE A TENDENCY TOWARD COMPULSIVE WORRY BUT IN THIS INSTANCE YOUR RATIONAL THOUGHTS ARE WORKING WELL.

o.k. GIRL!! it's time for you to come into the 21er century!

if I may be so bold....why AREN'T you on bc??

at the very least, the chances of a condom breaking are minimal at best!

now, if you've not had sex for other reasons, (are ya a virgin?)....then that's a different story....one that only you can figure out!

but for Pete's sake....there's so many other things to worry about...time to do some soul searching!

i am a virgin. and my doctor said she doesnt recommend being on birth control because i am on an anti depressant and it would mix well. i shouldnt worry about anything right?

no, of course not!! and if that's what's important to you. (remaining a virgin), then by ALL means Go for it!!

I'm a bit surprised why your doc doesn't want you on an antidepressant and birth control! I've NEVER heard that before.

if you should decide you want to start bc, I'd REALLY question her about that!

Your doc may be right about the two not mixing but im not sure on that one, I dont think ive ever really heard of that. I have friends on both and there fine. You could always just give it a shot for a while and see what happens-if it makes you too anxious or smtg just stop it. The chances of you getting pregnant as long as your safe are not very high, but if you feel it would make you too upset then hold off for now- nothing wrong with being a virgin despite what society says.
