Almost 3weeks since my THR and I am very anxious, especially at night.Yesterday zI got out of bed too quickly and felt a pain in my butt. Was convinced I had dislocated my hip..So tense and scared.I am taking tramadol for pain.Side effects can be anxiety and agitation.I wonder if this is contributing?Anyone else had a similar experience?

Hi Janet am 5 weeks down the line after RHR. I understand your comments. Perhaps ring your Dr or Ward to put your mind at rest? Tramodol is awful stuff gave me weird dreams stopped it after 2 weeks but stayed on paracetamol and ibrufen. I get strange things happening but I put it down to swelling going down and tendon and muscle repair ....like little Electric shock. Ring for some guidance from a Professional x

Check with dr. I did same thing, well I was getting shirt outta drawer and when I went to close it I felt pain in butt cheek of operated leg. Hurt for several days. I went to dr this past Tuesday and found out my hip was dislocated. Signs are if that leg is shorter, pain more than before, leg is turn inwards, best to check. Hope not and all is well for you.

    hi janet,

it is very possible that Tramadol causes Anxiety and agitation - a lot of medications do -

I agree with otheres here - make an appointment with surgeon to have it checked  ( see Linda's story) and perhaps meds changed ..

please let us know how are you getting on otherwise?

    big warm hug

I'm on tramadol. I was taking Norco for about 2 weeks when prescription ran out and my surgeon then prescribed Tramadol. I don't have any problems with it. I think the Norco was making me sleepy but no real issues. Hope you feel better & call the dr to be sure of your hip

    Hi Janet,

I scared myself a few times getting in or out of bed. I am pretty sure it was always muscular but do keep an eye on it. If it worsens do check with your doctor or surgeon as anot her Linda (81479) on here actually dI'd dis locate her hip and now has to go back to hospital.

I think Tramadol has quite a number of side effects - if you are this effected, it might be worth asking for a change in pescription as this journey provokes enough anxiety - no need to add to it!

You are through the toughest phase of recovery thank goodness. Now you need patience and commitment to the exercises to keep cramping and swelling at bay and to get all the related connective tissues working together more strongly.

    Good luck.

PS - I am at 5 months and very happy with function (except for my other hip which gets done next month).
