Anxiety and acid reflux

Just found out I have anxiety and acid reflux. Waiting for the meds to kick in. Trying my best not to get anxious but its so hard. I've been okay since I got out of the hospital but now the anxiety is back and so is my acid reflux. I can feel the acid in my stomach. Still trying to find the best sleeping position since I don't want to put pressure on myself. I've been out of work for days now I don't know if I'm still allowed to work from home. I miss the old me wherein I could go out and go to work without worrying anything. Now, I stay at home most of the time after being discharged. My fears are crawling. I'll be seeking professional help. Hopefully it'll help me. I just want to share. I just want to let my thoughts out.

that’s great that you are sharing and venting your thoughts. It’s actually healthy to do that.
I have had bouts of gastritis which is similar to the acid reflux so I know how it feels. And it was created by my long term anxiety. That’s why it’s important to get support to lower the anxiety so you don’t have as much reflux. there is a very strong connection between the brain and the stomach so when we are anxious it affects our gastrointestinal system.
just let the counselor know what you are anxious about in your life and learn some techniques to bring that anxiety down.
I really enjoy the meditations on YouTube for anxiety, overthinking, etc. One thing I had to do was slow down my mind and not let negative thoughts take it over. It’s very important because what we think about whether it’s positive or negative, it will expand! Ask your counselor about how to control scary thoughts. Just take one day at a time, don’t overthink things, do things to relax your mind.
feel free to private message me anytime. Take care of you! ❤

Hi,
I also suffer with reflux in general which worsens when i am anxious. Rennies are my best friend. i tried reflux meds but they didnt sit well with me.
Just some tips, which you may already know but anyway:
milk DOESNT help in the long run, due to the fats, ur stomach then produces more acid to help break them down.
Sleep on your left side, this helps to keep your oesophageal 'flap' closed preventing acid from coming up from your stomach into your throat.
Try not to eat foods that are spicy/too spicy, acidic or rich.
Try not to eat too late / too close to bedtime. Obviously sometimes this can be unavoidable.
I have also found that drinking boiled water helps with digestion and is actually quite soothing.
I hope something helps settle this quick for you
Take Care
