Anxiety and depression!

Hi guys, I just wanted to share my story with you as apparently taking is good!

I've had anxiety and depression for years now and I'm only 23, I've been on sertraline before and I felt great! I weened myself off last year but these last few months have been hell!

I have anxiety every night before I go to sleep I worry about absolutely everything there is possible to worry about and I have a burning sensation go through my body!

I've had all sorts of negative thoughts go through my head and I've literally come to the end of my tether. I went to the doctors four days ago and I asked to go back on sertraline and so far my symptoms have been awful so much so that I had an ambulance rushed to me last night....

Anybody that suffers knows that you genuinely feel like you are having a heart attack which the paramedics assured me I'm not and it was just anxiety!

I'm also taking sleeping tablets to help me drift off to sleep as before I would just sit up for hours worrying to go to bed because I knew I would have a panic attack!!!

I have hope that I will feel normal again as I know before it got worse before it got better and it's so nice to read other stories because sometimes I feel like nobody understands....!

Hey. Yeh it gets so much worse before it gets better with sertraline. I had a hell of a time for weeks with side effects and ended up in a and e cos it got so bad. Now I can feel the positive effects of the meds but it took a while. Still on sleeping pills but crazy physical symptoms gone now. Keep going and get plenty of support from GP and friends and family. The insomnia is the worst as it messes with your head and body. Good luck.

Hello Panda, i think you need to give yourself time to get used to being back on Sertraline. You don't mention the time span you have been back on them if at all. Why did you take yourself off them originally, was it the Sertraline telling you you were ok??

Hi Tracey, I've been back on them for a week but no change yet still sweating still heavy breathing and still panicking at night if not worse than before I remember having awful side effects when I first went on them but then I felt amazing in just holding onto that bit of hope that they will work for me again x

Hi Panda being back on them for one week is certainly not long enough to get over the side effects. As you have taken them before you will have experienced the side effects before but like many things that are happening at the time are awful you soon forget about how bad you felt. It is just the same now and as you have taken them before you know the first few weeks are a struggle and you do feel worse before you start to feel better. You have done it once you can do it again, just think of every day as a step nearer to being better.

    Hi Panda,

I am also wondering how long you have been off the sertraline and how did you weana off of them?  Did you have any withdrawal symptoms?

I was off sertraline for about 10 months, I would bite it in half for a couple of weeks and then just keep them in my pocket with me just so they were there. I've only been back on them for a week and my side effects are awful at the moment?
