Anxiety and eyes

Does anyone else get eye pain? I get this sudden stabbing shooting pain in one of my eyes. It happens and goes away then does it again. I have been to the eye doctor and everything is fine. Wondering if it could be anxiety related

I get it in my left eye sometimes a shooting pain or it can ache for days. My teeth have been hurting on the same side so I think it might be related to clenching my jaw. Had my eyes checked too and they are fine. I suffer from anxiety too it seems like it can cause all sorts of problems.

Go to the doctor or your pharmacy and ask for a health checkup.

It may be in some way connected with high blood pressure.

I actually had the same symtoms for years . I thought it was a sinus prob. so I had a catscan and there wasn't any prob . in that area . I was perscribed different sprays and stuff to shove up my nose which didn't work.I still have it and named it "eye headache". I now think it may be caused by my anxtety prob.

Hello Kriss, I can relate to you with this. I have had eye pain for a couple of years on and off. My opticians couldn't find anything. Thou the pressure behind my eyes as gradually being higher each time. My optician sent me to eye casualty who diagnosed eye migraine and said that it can be caused by tiredness and anxiety. Another time i was sent to a eye clinic who said it was dry eyes. I still don't know the real cause, thou i find it happens more when i am tired. It is a very sharp pain and i cannot read or watch telly and have to hold my hand over my eye to get to sleep, or use an eye mask. I did have some medication prescribed by my GP after the hospital diagnosed it, thou i cannot remember what it is now as it's been a little while since i last had it. Personally i think it's eye migraine as the tiredness and anxiety sems to fit, when i have slept it tends to get better. I would go to a eye casualty which are walk in clinics attached to a hospital, you don't need an appointment you wait and will get seen within a short while, it's similar to a & e except it's spefically for the eyes, they will put drops in and can check more than the opticians. You don't need the opticians to refer you. I would be interested to know what they diagnose you with.

    Best wishes

    Elizabeth.
