Have you tried sleep hygiene? That is the only real long term solution to insomnia. I would Google it. To be honest, moving on to stronger and stronger sedatives during the day time is not the best of ideas, and I must admit I am surprised at the doctors choice of treatment. If you are able to get on to the pregabalin for anxiety I preume they can wean you off the lorazepam slowly?
Honestly for sleep though hun I think sleep hygiene is your only bet. You have to do it for 12-16 weeks to know if it is helping or not and to be honest since you have been on sedatives so long I would give it at least 6 months. You never know, when my partner did it, it worked in 1 week flat but it is worth giving it as much time as you can.
In all honesty though my dear I would be questioning your treatment options. I know you are probably excited about moving on to the stronger stuff but eventually you will reach a position where they can't give you anything stronger. Then what do you do? I know where you are. They have put me on morphine now. I can up my dose 6 more times (about 2 years worth) then go on to fentanyl patches...(about 1 year on that, maybe 2)... then what can they do for me? They can't prescribe me anything stronger to use at home. I have a life long condition, and in 4 years I am facing being forced to move in to hospital permenently. I am 24 years old. So I know it seems great (rubbish too, but still a bit great) now... but pick your battles. Because what do you do next? xx

I hope you get on with these guys better, I know from experience finding a doctor you can talk to and who listens to you is a life saver. Make sure you come of the meds very slowly, they are addictive and you have been on them a long time, if you rush things you will get withdrawal symptoms which you don't want. I hope you manage to get onto the pregabalin. It was a life saver for me. Got my anxiety completely under control xx
