Anxiety and neck pain?

Can anxiety cause random neck pains and difficulty swallowing? I went to the ER today when I thought something was going on with my throat, but the doctors examined it and even did x-rays on it and didn't find anything. They asked me if I suffer from any anxiety and I told them yes, they said it could be mostly anxiety since stress can tighten up your muscles and also the neck as well when you're too stressed out. I'm still a bit worried if it could be something else.

anxiety can definitely tighten any muscles in the body especially around the neck and shoulders as well as the throat area. I have had this for over 30 years and believe me, I’ve been through it all. I also learned that unless my symptoms are severe, when my doctor tells me everything‘s OK then I just get on with my life and not worry so much. Worrying is a complete waste of time. I found that the best thing to do is just go get checked out like you did and if everything is OK then I’m good with that. your symptoms are extremely common with anxiety. The best thing you can do is learn how to relax your mind so that the symptoms diminish or go away. Get a nice massage for your neck and back. Sometimes I will soak in a warm bath to relax the muscles. you can also get some counseling for the anxiety and get some tips from the counselor. You’re going to be fine!
