anxiety attacks when feeling excited.

Hi,

Has any of you guys feel the same way? Whenever something big something exciting is coming my anxiety always creeps in and so as my panic attack. I have noticed this from family outing, going out with good friends or even attending a small party. How to cope up and enjoy life. Thanks

    Hi Mark,

At least you have narrowed down the cause of your attacks down to group meetings of some sort, however big or small. How long have you felt this way. Was there one particular group outing where something happened that upset or scared you? You don't make any mention of being on medication so I think it would be a good thing if you discussed your situation with your GP. In the meantime is there one friend you can go out with where this situation doesn't occur?

Hi ms gwen, thank you for replying. I am taking lexapro for more than a month now. It helps me alot. what i have right now is better before i knew i had GAD. Work stress doenst trigger the panic like it used too. Its just the excitement. Its the feeling of you got excited about something like when my pals threw a suprise party for me and my anxiety creeps in because i got overwealm or when my best friend visited me from san francisco and i wasnt able to accompany him during his vacation because i got nauseas and my heart palpitates. All test are perfect though. The feeling you would rather stay home cause you dont want them to.worry about you or not have fun cause you aint feeling fine. But little by little i am.learning to acknowledge it and its helping.

I wish you good life ms gwen and again thanks.

Hi Mark. it is rather funny that i saw this post because i am the same way. I was in a bad situation where i was not at home and did something stupid about a month ago which triggered my anxiety to flair up. i have always had it and always will because it runs in my family. Now after a hole month because i am such a person to stay at home. which that didnt help the anxiety me being constently gone for like 2 months with my bf and his family and other friends and whatnot.... Back to the point though. I am just now getting my life back to where i dont constently feel.... "dead" like I am just starting to WANT to eat again and i just celebrated having only 8 hours of sleep because it was normally ony like 6 or 7 at most. I never want to do ANYTHING but stay home it seems. i think it is because all i have been through. We are going to go bowling today and i almost asked if i could stay home.... I need to get myself out of this rut though because i will be going on vacation with my boyfriends family for like 4 or 5 days almost in ohio and we r going to michigan adventures. Well i would say more but i am off. Hope all goes well

Hi chick thank you for replying. I feel you too. Its dreading isint? Im glad you have the opportunity to go out and have your boy friend with you. Whenever i feel anxious i always tell myself that the anxiety is just there, i acknowlwdge it. It may not be the same feeling as being anxiety free but its far better than missing out on the great stuff life has to offer. I wish you well ms. Chick and i.wish you well.

My cbt worker told me something that made a lot of sence to me that when we are excited out adrenline kicks in and sometimes our body's mistake that for anxiety and worry so no matter what we do that's good in life our body's can react negative towards it .

Although I know when I even go shopping in a crowded place my anxiety kicks in too so could be the fact people make you anxiouse / been in crowded / places where you know people are but also could just be a miss understood feeling of excitement that's been replaced by anxoety and having to teach yourself that in fact it isn't a bad thing .
