Anxiety attacks while shopping, especially with my boyfriend

Hi my names Lauren and I'm 20 years old, I'm new here! I have panic disorder and complex PTSD. i suffer with anxiety 24/7 and it feels like it never goes away. I am never at peace with myself and my anxiety has gotten so bad this semester that I had to Appeal for a medical withdraw from school. I was almost in the nursing program but due to my absences from school I was unable to keep my grades up. I have no "safe place" to go because my dad triggers my anxiety the most so I stay with my boyfriend and his family who also fight nonstop and they're all control freaks. I'm having a hard time standing on my feet.

And as you can see didn't even mention the shopping part because my mind feels like it's always racing and my thoughts are ongoing. I'm very impatient and my boyfriend is so slow when going into any store. It gives me anxiety the most I feel like in going to pass out, blurry vision, can't talk, and feel like I'm bed riddin the whole day. One little thing could throw me in a tail spin. Whether it's evan not being able to pick a shampoo or if we're shopping and he is all over the place with no rhyme or reason. I feel nuts and he gets extremely upset with me.

First of all, big (((hugs))) for you. Have you ever tried deep breathing techniques and visualisation? They were really helpful for me. I also found that discovering the hobby of adult colouring books really helped to keep me focused. They are calming and really enjoyable. If you need some help with the breathing techniques or visualisation, feel free to drop me a pm.x

Hi, Lauren....  I am Deanna i am 14 and i suffer from hareditary anxiaty. (excuse spelling please lol) i appoligise for not seeing your post sooner i was actually asleep lol. I know what it is like not knowing what to do. sometimes i can not sleep and sometimes i can not eat. there are times i have to force myself to et so i dont get sick. I am SO sorry to hear that about your schooling. Also i am sorry to hear that about your dad and boyfriends family. I obceosly still live at home lol. my mom and step dad (who has been there for me my hole life just about) don't fight 24\7 but when my anxiaty is high and they are fighting it does only make it worse. I suggest that you focus on your breathing during an anxiaty attack. breath in for 5 seconds pause for 3 seconds and in for 5 seconds and so on and so forth. Also when u r at home or where u stay most of your time. If the anxiaty starts getting bad find a good book or watch a movie you like and clear your mind besides what is going on with the movie or book. Start looking for free time hobbies so u have not ime to think about anxiaty. I hope i helped  in some way!!! cool Deep breathing and stay cool

well i feel stupid because i did not see that i pretty much said things that were already said. all that has been said is true. and when you are shopping..... try to make a list for him and a list for you make yours longer so it takes longer then meet somewhere in the store when you are both done. i dont know for sure if something like that will work i am just trying to help lol. Keep your chin up because what does not kill you only makes you stronger in the long run....... smile        "THIS TOO SHALL PASS

Thank you so much for sharing with me! Yes my eating habits are similar, i go without eating for long periods of time until I don't even feel good enough to eat. It's a horrible feeling and part of the lack of appetite is due to an ssri that I'm on. Reading is a great idea! I usually go running when I'm having anxiety but running is not always convient in the middle of the mall lolol

Oh this guy is an absolute NIGHTMARE to shop with. He will be in the polo section in Macys for 3 hours! No kidding, and when i won't help him or stand near him for 3 seconds he yells at me and embarrasses me in front of everyone. "Lauren I just need your help for 5 seconds, you know I'm not good at choosing". Then when I tell him my opinion he does the exact opposite and keeps going back and forth. He never lets me look for myself until the stores about the close and I only have 10 minutes.

He's very picky about what he looks like. He has to always look nice, not hair out of place. It takes him 2 hours to get ready after taking an hour shower. It takes me 20 minutes. We're just polar opposites in that aspect. I go nuts. His ill be home in 5 minutes turns to 3 hours. It's not fair to me
