Anxiety caused by glandular fever.

Me again slowly getting there resting when possible. Taking vitamins and magnesium, My main problem is the unbalanced feeling although comes and goes now. My question is will the anxiety disappear. Before I got glandular fever I had a bit of anxietynot where it would hold me back but simple things would trigger it. However Since I got this in June this year it has gone out of control somewhat. Ive read the virus can cause you to have massive anxiety issues. I never thought it could be so bad though. Now Im wondering whether the unbalanced feeling is the virus. Or whether its the anxiety. My first few months with this were horrific now into month 5 I have noticed changes hopefully for the better. Anyone with anxiety caused by this nasty virus please drop a reply.
Thank you

Hi Jelley,
?I had that for the entire time I had mono, at 6.5 months I would have a couple of hours where it let up here and there, but honestly that part didn't go away until the one year mark, it does get lighter and lighter as time goes on.
I am older so yours will probably leave sooner. Most people on the forum have had it and it is one of the last symptoms to go away. I think somehow the virus gets to the nervous system.

Hi Brent,
Second year will be much better, truly it will be - you've weathered the worst and remember just be kind to yourself as you say your body has taken a beating and it takes time to recover, but it will recover and you will be feeling much better - here's to a better 2018 for everyone here!

Oh I really do understand, the anxiety is brought on by the constant symptoms and stress of the virus and its longevity, just want you to know that YES the anxiety will go, remember to be kind to yourself and all this will get better. Sometimes I find using a relaxation app on my phone with breathing exercises etc can help. There is a good one in the UK called MindShift. Or even just looking up relaxation and breathing and soothing healing verses from You Tube is always a good one too.
Take care and thinking of you

Thank you guys. I know Ive got to be patient with this. I just find these forums very interesting, Craig and Mono too you have a wealth of experience with this. Got a blood test next Wednesday to see whether my thyroid gland has improved or not. If it hasn't I shall be put on a thyroid medication. Hopefully it has though. on the 23/12/2017 it will be the 6 month mark. Thank you for your help.

Really hoping the results provide good news and reassurance Jelley, let us know how things go and try not to worry in the meantime (hard as that is I know) - you've done the right thing by going for checks and that's what's important.

Hi jelly
I had 9months of hell with this virus but just want you to know I'm doing much better. It's about 13months since I contracted mono and slowly my symptoms have started to ease over the last 3-4months.
Supplements I'm taking are magnesium oil, omega 369 with vitamin D (think both were very low) a pro-biotic and turmeric. Turmeric is great for the immune system and for any inflammation caused by the virus.
I just started doing yoga and it's helping with the muscle tightness and anxiety. My anxiety was pretty bad but it has improved a lot.
I also did 6sessions of acupuncture which greatly helped the constant fatigue and now I go monthly to prevent the fatigue from returning.
Just got the all clear for my thyroid yesterday and I also had fat around my liver which caused some horrible digestive symptoms but I think that has gone now. I joined the gym for a bit to burn off that layer of fat and I think it worked but I couldn't keep it up coz my energy still burns out quickly if I over do it so for now yoga is better for me.
I also drastically changed my diet. I read that mono can cause bad bacteria to overflow in your gut and you need to starve/kill that bacteria by cutting out the things they feed on like gluten, dairy, sugar etc it may be good to do this for 6weeks and see if it helps and eat a lot of healing foods like green veg, home made soup or broth, pro-biotic yoghurts, smoothies etc
Wishing you the best ?
