Anxiety causing swallowing problems?

Hi, I suffer from health anxiety which causes globus sensation in my throat (lump feeling) on and off. For the last few days when eating harder things like meat I'm swallowing and it's like it's getting stuck a bit. I panick about it and have to have a drink to make it go down. Is it the anxiety or a swallowing problem?

Yes its the anxiety, the more you concentrate on swallowing, the more difficult and laboured it becomes, the same with concentrating on any automatic function. Its distressing I know and not easy to forget about

I thought so, but just checking! I've suffered anxiety for 18 months particularly with my health, but this has never been a real issue before. Just another thing to add to the list I suppose!

Indeed, its just another of those awful symptoms that plague us,especially with health anxiety, its super common. I had the scope up my nose and down my throat for the lump sensation, even though I knew it was anxiety, as expected its totally fine, but still doesn't take the feeling away

Globus sensation in my throat was the thing that started all my anxiety and it's just carried on. I also had the camera and they treated for acid reflux. I can't help thinking what if it's something else now as that was done ages ago.

I smoke too it can't help my throat much but I feel like I need it and it's the only thing I've got to chill me out for 5 minutes. Although I have heard it causes anxiety lol.

I agree with you. I've had the swallowing problem too, the same thing goes for breathing too. The more you are aware of it, the more the feeling of difficulty breathing....
