Anxiety Confusion

For as long I've known Ive always been a nervous and person, awkward in social situations. That has never changed. For about 10 years now at the start of every school year (I'm a teacher), I get crippling anxiety. I love what I do but I'm crippled with self doubt, no appetite, wanting to cry constantly, feeling unedge and zoned out. I always put it down to school and change being my trigger. It usually passed in two weeks or so. Over the past year, I've experienced these bouts of anxiety more regularly - sometimes there's a reason but most of the time there's not. I become socially anxious, highly strung, don't know what to say to anyone etc. It's like I become a different person, with no personality or interest in anything. It's debilitating. Its also much worse in the morning.
Maybe you guys could help:
- Is this anxiety?
- Is it depression?
Have you any suggestions?

it sounds like anxiety and possibly depression also. Many times anxiety and depression go hand-in-hand but a lot of people don’t know that they are actually depressed also. I can completely relate to you because I’ve always been nervous and anxious in social situations including work. it was debilitating. actually I was also like that in grade school, high school and college. So it was very difficult for me to keep a job for very long.
anxiety is usually worse in the morning and that’s because cortisol is highest in the waking hours for people who have stress and anxiety. Cortisol is a stress hormone. I also noticed that anxiety is terrible in the morning for me.
i i’ve been battling this for many many years. It isn’t until recently that I have been feeling a little bit better after getting some great counseling that is still going on. I do that virtually which I really like. Also I’ve been listening to some great speakers on YouTube about how to manage anxiety. i Learned that I need to have a regular daily schedule and do things that promote well-being more than I have done in the past. some of the things are :
3.regular exercise. This reduces anxiety and increases endorphins in the brain which help you feel relaxed.
4.get at least 7+ hours of sleep every night
5.speak with a counselor if you are really struggling
6 some people benefit from medication for anxiety and or depression
7.journaling your feelings and accomplishments.
i i’m sorry that you’re going through this. I know it’s not fun. take one day at a time and try not to overthink everything. remember that whatever we think whether it’s positive or negative, it will grow! So stay on the positive side and look for the good in everything. Private message me anytime. Take care
