Hi all,

recently lost my job for taking two weeks off with stress. This was brought on by being bullied by another director. Maybe this is just one of the reasons but its left me with no appetite whatsoever.

i am totally aware that i need food and have taken to slimming world shake for breakfast, one for lunch and some nuggets for tea if I can manage. i know this isnt helping but i cant force food down my neck.

struggling and desperate for help, everyday is just spent lay in bed.

I always thought that companies could not let somebody go for taking a mental health leave. But maybe there’s different rules that I’m not aware of.

I left my job due to overwhelming stress and anxiety. And I can tell you that nothing is worth losing your Health over. Not even a job.

I know it’s very stressful but my situation was a blessing in disguise. At first I was so scared at how I was going to go on without this job but it turned out I found something that didn’t rob me of my health or peace of mind.

right now I know you’re feeling depressed and possibly anxious, etc.

but would you really want to go back to that job?

One thing I learned in counseling is don’t allow another person, a job, or anything tear you all the way down and make your life miserable. that’s giving power to them and taking it away from yourself. Because all they will do is replace you. All companies are like this.

So it’s time to take care of you! this may be an opportunity for you to find something that suits you better. You’ve got to think positive. I know that people need jobs however don’t let it define you. in the big scheme of things, they don’t mean anything. Of course they mean a paycheck but what’s even more important is your peace of mind, your Health and your joy. Be good to yourself.

    1. I would say to force yourself out of bed. Sometimes we have to do things that we don’t want to do in order to change for the better. Take baby steps. Get up, get dressed and go for a walk outside. You would be surprised how it helps to lift your spirit. do little things like that each day. You don’t have to do a lot to start with. But get moving.
    2. as long as you’re getting some nutrition and staying hydrated right now, that’s the important thing.
    3. there’s always the option of speaking with a counselor who can help you manage this.
    4. don’t give away your power and Health to some company. you have a good future and something else will come along. Sometimes change is what is most needed as I definitely found that out! this is a great opportunity for you.
