Hi, about two months ago I started having muscle twitching on my left Biceps and sometimes Triceps. Then I started having small muscle cramps that never goes like a full cramp. Now it did spread to my stomach and some of the back muscles.

I do have anxiety disorder and now because this other symptoms I am starting to worry even more.

I am an athlete and all those symptoms feels very weird as I use my body a lot.

3 months ago I had an MRI of my brain and neck because of headaches but it was all fine. I have almost a cervical disc herniation but it is not affecting the nerve.

So if anyone had similar symptoms please let me know.

Absolutely! My muscle twitching began when I was in my 20s along with several other symptoms of anxiety. Actually, many athletes get the muscle twitches and small cramps because of how they use their bodies.  They are harmless. When I get anxiety I will get the muscle twitching. They can occur in my arms, legs, butt, etc.

I don’t get them now like I used to only very occasionally and I just ignore them and they go away on their own. I do try to stay away from stress which creates anxiety and symptoms by getting some exercise, eating healthy, listening to meditations on YouTube for anxiety. I am now in my 50s and am living proof that the twitching  doesn’t hurt you. As long as you get your regular doctor checks up every year you will be fine.

Also, the more you think about the twitching, the worst they will get. Try not to dwell on it. Stay active in your life and do things that relax you. One of the meditations on YouTube it’s called detachment from overthinking . There are many others that teach you how not to worry and separate negative thinking from yourself. Have a great day!

Thank you very much for your reply.

I am listening to some Youtube meditations and they are helping.

The only thing it is worrying me are the muscle cramps. Because it is something constant. It is not that it comes and goes. Started with my pecs and now are on my abs and back too.

I had headaches, palpitations, heat waves and lots of other anxiety symptoms. But these cramps are really worrying me.

2 Months ago I went for a MRI of my brain and neck because of head and neck pain. I found out I have a disc herniation but it is not affecting the nerve. So my headache was caused by tension/anxiety.

I never thought I would have this in my life and it is horrible. I just get worried it is something bad. Even when I am happy, the thoughts comes and then the cycle starts again.

Now I just wish those cramps goes away. I am thinking to go to a Neurologist to check.

Thank you very much for your time.

I think it would give you some peace of mind to speak to a specialist like a neurologist. Sometimes muscle cramping can be caused by a lack of electrolytes but follow up with the specialist to see what he or she recommends. Best of luck to you!

Anxiety will cause cramping and twitching. Be sure to get quality massages and not overdue the exercise. Stay away from meds if possible, especially Benzos.

    Acro

Sometimes if working out this sometimes happens and it is normal. Your GP has had you checked and is happy with your results so trust His diagnosis. The possible problem is you notice these twitches because sportsmen are watching their fitness all the time

I'm having the same issue except it is mostly in my legs and left arm. On the initial onset of this I had a blood test and it came back with normal levels of magnesium, potassium, and Bs. I also have the 'mimic cramps', especially after waking up in the morning. Typically moving around makes it go away but it comes back when at rest- which is the opposite of most disorders. I do suffer with anxiety and at some points very extreme anxiety. I have read stories of people having ALS symptoms and it just being anxiety in the end. I see the doctor Thursday and will request an EMG to clear the air. What ever came of your symptoms? Did they go away?
