Anxiety from bad hygiene blood draw.

Took blood test yesterday due to some health issues. I am really worried about the bad hygiene practice that was followed in me. I wish to really die right now. Scary feeling of getting infected is killing me. The person who took blood wore glove only in one hand, he didn't wash his hand, after cleaning the site he touched it with his bare hand and he removed the cap and placed the bare needle on table,he picked it up from there and punctured the site then kept tainted needle on same table, same place without covering it with cap. He was not experienced I guess. While drawing my blood was oozing form sides of needle.
I think I am at being risk of infection.
Also he had no sense of safety for him self. When i asked what measures they take to dispose needles he picked up used needle with bare hands to show me. This is freaking me more. Scenario keeps looping in my head. What should I do?

Hi
This has happened to me severl times. The details may not be exact but the flawed
technoque is the same with no washing of hands etc.
?I do not think that you need to be so worried albeit I fully appreciate the reasons why.
I assume that you are in the US?
I would definitely raise this with this persons manager or employr.
If the person was a dr then I would raise the matter with the Health Board or equivalent.
It is unfair that he has caused so much worry for you.
?In the meantime try not to get too worried/ Itis good that the blood continued to flow alongside the needle as this will flush away and possible infection.
SInister infection such a hep B, HIV are transmited blood to blood or bodyfluids so the likelihood of it being due to these infections is very rare imho/
?This person has caused you a lot of 'unnecewssary' worry sofrom that point of view deserves to be reported so that he may receive training and strict supervision .
IN future and I have done this myself if anyone fails to follow the protocol for taking/drawing blood ask for someone else to take over.
Take care xx

Amended posting.
Hi
This has happened to me several times. The details may not be exact but with a similar flawed technique.
I stopped the person concerned and calmly asked for somebody else to take my blood. If you aretoldthat thereis n one else available may I suggest asking to speak to that persons manager.
?I do not think that you need to be so worried albeit I fully appreciate the reasons why.
You obviously did the right thing in questioning him although it sounds like he was so arrogant that he was then trying to wind you up even more so.
From this point of view alone I would definitely report him to his manager, employer, Regulatory Body because it seems that this is all about power and causing worry to an innocent person.
If the person was a dr then I would raise the matter with the Health Board or equivalent.
It is unfair that he has caused so much worry for you.
?In the meantime try not to get too worried.
?Esier said than done BUT It is good that the blood continued to flow alongside the needle as this will flush away any possible infection.
SInister infection such a hep B, HIV are transmited blood to blood or body fluids with body fluid so the likelihood of it being due to these infections is very , very rare imho.
?Atated previously this person has set out to cause you a lot of 'unnecessary' worry .
From that point of view deserves to be reported so that he may receive training and strict supervision or possible dismissal .
I would suggest that n the remote chance of the exact sequence of events happening again that is with so many flaws in their 'technique' that at the very first sign of a procedure not being followed I would ask for someone else who is willing to follow correct aseptic techniques to take over.
Take care xx

I asked him to wear glove in other hand but he said no he doesn't wear it. Will definitely report this, but I am not able to calm down. Only comfort is I bled little bit even after applying bandage on the arm. Then he cleaned it up again without gloves and applied bandage. That was on horrible experience. I don't know how how to calm myself.

Try to keep positive and focus on something pleasant that you have experienced. The memoryof this incident will grow less and less as time goes by.
I would suggest trying to distract yourself. Even though what he caused worry as it would to any human being remember you are still here, that is important to keep telling yourself.
.
You have the power to do something about this situation in order to protect others.
I do not wish to be intrusive but where did this take place?
Do you have to go back there for any reason?
I am asking because these other factors may be troubling you as well as the actual incident.

Yes I have reported to main labthey said they will get back to me. This was just a collection center close to my home so I went there.i don't have to go there again. This happened in India. I always try to go to renowned labs and this was extension of main lab of one of famous labs here.

Well I would never go there again .
I think that you need to dstract yourself to enable you to become calm again. This man deserves to be sacked imho.
Just try to put it all behind you.
Is there another collection centre that you can go to in the future?
Take care

I really freaked out when he picked up used needle from the tray with bare hands to show me that they keep disposed needles there.
its ok that he is not considerate towards himself, atleast he should not put patients at risk.

I think that is very sensible indeed to see a dr in infectious diseases for advice and follow up.
This man is totally irresponsible , reckless ,unreliable and should never be let loose on Human Beings again. I wondr if what he did comes under criminal law as well as Health and Safety Legislation.
As I said previously you are entitled to refuse such a person from taking blood from you or indeed of carrying out any procedure that maybe putting youat risk or causing stress and worry like this.
You are doing the correct things and thinking clearly. I feel sure that you will be okay.

Sometims i dislike when a dr goes to shake your hand as well. Same theory but they do it and then before i leave the room i wash my own hands lol.

I am still worried about the blood oozing from the side of syringe. It is making me question did syringe already had clot in it, made it flow outward? He broke the seal of needle in front of me. But I lost the sight if he used same one or not.!!!!!!
I think I should try to forget this and wait???? Or can I take some other steps??

Did the dr give a reason as to why he cancelled the appointment?
You can always make another appointment or go to the nearest hospital and report this but you need to do this asap.
You now seem unsure as to whether the needle he used is the same needle that he used to draw blood.
I am unsure oof the health and safety legislation in INdia but there must be a Body that you can reoort this to apart from the collection centre/ How about a lawyer or advisory centre or a dept of health?
If you google needlestick rotocol that will give you an idea of the protocol that you a victim should be following.

I tried. I went to one of the government body here, where they treat HIV patients. Asked if what I can I do they said I have to report on higher authorities of lab chain, that's all I can do.
No lawyer or government will help in this here in India.
Doctor had to go for some emergency. No other infection specialist. Will see another doctor tomorrow. Have to take some step before 72 hours.

Are you sure that this man put down the needle onto an unsterile surface?
The clinic that you went to where they treat HIV patients , have u been there before?
Why didn't they advise you properly?
There must be clinics in India for std?
