Anxiety from eye problems?

Hi,im in my late fifties,i now have eye problems that give me non stop anxiety. Lately I avoid doing just about everything. Hard to ignore when you have vision problems 24/7. I have several issues, floaters, have post vitreous detachment in both eyes, which alot of people get when older, however it has left me with worse floaters, plus something called a macular pucker ftom when the vitreous detached and pulled too hard. That can lead to distortion. Can range from mild to severe and may or may not require surgery someday. Well if that werent enough i now have dry eyes which caus blurring of vision etc. Anyone else have vision problems and anxiety? I need to get over constantly checking my vision etc.Its getting obsessive.

Try therapy to learn how to cope

there is no therapy to cope better. Its vision. It is the eyes. It is scary! Over time you comes to terms with it. I tried my therapist felt awful. Its a very sensitive thing here. Therapy cant fix this. Technology can...hopefully they can speed up these new advances. Im watching globally for when someone does. my opthamologist are also teachers in hospitals so id hooe they know as well. I dont see the nuero opthamologist anymore no point. This isnt a dont think about it and you can cope kind of situation. But yes coping is important have to stay as calm as possible dont want any pressures raising. Being grateful is extremly important.

Ok so what you are saying is these symptoms unlike all other anxiety symptoms are NOT psychosimatic.

My eyes twitch my vision is blurry and my eyes water constantly I have numerous checks done and all is ok its anxiety.

The above only started happening In December surprise surprise when my anxiety started.

Also I suggested therapy because Lee seem to be getting her nickers in a twist about this and she has posted on an anxiety page so seeking therapy will help her control hysteria about her eye problem.

Caps are considered yelling. I was trying to help you. I had been having blurry vision. I had just been in for a full eye exam before it started. It came on very quickly. Usually on exam they dont specifically test for dry eye. They use a special dye or specifically check your lid margins for something called mgd. First doc only used the stain. No confirmatin. Second doc checked my lid margins with a slit lamp and confirmed mgd and dry eye. When you said blurry vision I thought of what happened with me. Also despite the term dry eye, many people have watering of the eye. Just an idea.

No. Mine are not psychosomatic. PVD  is is not psychosomatic. Optic nerve pallor is seen. Dry eyes.  It scary! I have peripheral visiion issues. I cant even give you the details because its that real and i dont want to scare myself. No it is an evident based real thing that is seen by every doctor i ever seen that looks into my eyes. And has to comment, which annoys me some get startled and say things they shouldnt. This isnt about eye twitches or tunnel vision. Pvd didnt scare me, not a  healthy thing though it like a tug on the outer corners of the eye with a very bright light. Gift as you age for many.  Okay that wasnt scary..yet. Then a little tear happens you get arc lights a large black smudge. Its. Piece of the vitreous. After sent to some speicialist and thoroughly probed this large smudge eventually breakdown to solid little black floaters. So your vision has floaters in it, enough to notice. Okay i was going to deal with that no anxiety entered yet. A year later i woke up to find one eye say dimmer then the other. For lack of better words felt congested. I wrote it off as whatever.went to opthamologist and he looked then moved his seat back and explained to me i had optic nerve pallor (my eye had a stroke was the explanation)  and went through all of it, "we hope it stays stabile, that is all we can do" off i was sent to a nuero opthamologist A ton of tests were run.i did google it but hated what i read so stopped immediately and decieded to let the dr. Tell me.  At the end he said the same thing but explained what changed in the eyes.  So now i have been diagnosed with pvd , some little tear, optic nueritis, color altering, dimmer, optic nerve pallor and they are watching the angles on the inner corner (narrow angle thing but happily thats okay right now) i also had xanthelesma but had a surgery to remove that. No warning no knowledge nothing never heard of optic nerve pallor. Was sent for brain mris and such which with dye noted one  if the eyes had some things but  dont want to write it, but all stabile and im grateful all is stabile. I asked how all this happened to me. They felt it was from a virus. mono when younger or viral labrynthitis. Unknow which one. This is a evident based thing. The massive anxiety rolls in in the what if it doesnt remain stabile.  Love to see. Seeing is wonderful and im grateful for it. I dont want to say anything negative here because i have to remain calm. But when i get ill with regular stuff or other issues i get massive anxiety as i want my optic nerves to have all the oxygen and nutrition and proper pressure in that area. So anxiety is my enemy big  time. Cant use anti anxiety meds they arent healthy for the eyes, not my eyes so that's that deal. No surgery to regenerate or fix it but technology is working on it. Upon the diagnoses i went into six week oanic attack freak out. I was able to get a hold of it and calm down. I actually learned mindfullness at that time. Worked so well.  Thats the eye explanation. I also have other ailment. My situation wasnt health anxiety where i googled and thought i had diseases. I would never have guessed this mess. Mine is panic attacks (almost three decades on and off), ptsd stuff and actual health anxiety. The  body symptoms same because a panic attack is a panic attack. I just never had the situation where any doctor said you are healthy its anxiety. But i can promise you having ailments/issues/chronic condition does not explain away panic disorders.  That was explained to me. By surgeons actually. Panic disorder is a seperate entitity and many with terminal illness or chronic ailments do not have panic diosorders as well. So thats how i entered this forum asctually. Upon diagnosed with my eye .  I had panic attacks for very long time from ptsd and those came and went. I had breaks without them them. They wax and wane. I did bio feedback therapy and contained that. But any huge life issue triggers them back. Now with health ailments its more work to contain them but i have too. Panic attacks do raise pressure throughout the body, they do. So in came learning mindfullness and anything i can.  I aslo had GAD which im trying to figure out how to get rid of it. Thats the constant worry thing, its low key but always there. I believe without a doubt the mind can be trained to keep me calm.i beleive in brain fixing the body i have to figure out a way to tap into that and thats the courses and studies i am working on now. Cancer people have shrunk tumors, some people..so my goal is to heal my body as best i can. Im learning this. What seems to be the answer is a happy  and grateful body is less diseases, the dna works better and the body runs better. Makes sense. I am trying and learning. But my ailments the eye situation, i also have ear situation and some other stuff is all evident based and diagnosed.  My mind needs to be calm and get rid of the panic disorder and gad so my bidy can properly function. Bodies do not gracefully function under constant negativity and stress. Getting from point a to point b is the challenge.  But i get that you didnt know mist people on here are psychosomatic which is very real and torturous as i do get panic attacks..but this is evident based.

I am going to the doctor often. Its the not knowing about the surgery and the eye symptoms that provoke the anxiety. Ive had floaters since my 20s. Typical floaters didnt phase me. After the vitreous detachments the word floater took on a whole new meaning. Dry eye as ive learned is often not just putting in some eye drops, vision can be affected etc. And im hopeing i dont need surgery for the macula. All part of getting older as they all stem from the pvd and probably hormones. Post menopaus. The dry eye that is.

On the floaters side of they do have a surgery to remove them. My doc told me they do that. Im too scared to play games with my eyes. But i have other issues. Something for you to think about.

Floaters only vicretomy is not encouraged in the states and not many doctors do them. If i have to have surgery they have to do it to peal the macula pucker. Im sure i spelled that wrong.
