Hello,

I'm 18 years old. About few months ago around August I had a panic attack out of the blue I woke up and I felt as if I couldn't breath and I felt dizzy and blacked out. I called the ambulance who then assured me it was noting.

Since then I never felt better again. I went to every doctor they all told me It was anxiety

I have shortness of breath really bad i get really worried right now my throat is so sore and I'm assuming it's also making it worse ??

I used to have tightness on my chest but that went once I dealt with my panic attacks. I worry a it and I'm always googling my symptoms thinking of the worse. I keep thinking is an allergy or something and I get really worried. Sometimes I get nausea headaches ... Palpitations are on everyday

I can't deal with this anymore I'm so stressed, scared etc.

I've been stressed lately due to university and family. I've been taking herbs remedies .. Any help!!

Who have you talked to about it?  Professionally?  I don't see that mentioned in your post other than seeing various doctors?  A good counselor or therapist is in order if you want to start making changes.  Effort will be needed and will take time...but how nice it will be to learn new ways to cope!  Good luck!

    Hi

Can you think about the past few months. Have you been under a lot of pressure?

Have been worrying too much over something? Or are you soffering from OCD?

All these can cause the symptoms you mention. I have been suffering from them for  year now and it all started out with a blackout moment.

    Hope you get better soon

Try to stay out of stressing situations as much as possible, and dont take medications if you can/

    Cheers

I never agreed or wanted medication, but, I agree try not too. But if its getting worse , then why suffer? On medication you can get a bit worse for first 10 days then you slowly get better.

All the best. Btw I couldn't cope and am on sertraline 50mg, and feeling much better. X

I have been stressing but not to a major point. I started stressing after my first panic attack which made everything worse I will wake up with sore muscles, headaches, dizziness and thinking of the worst. And since the it's just made everything worse with fear.

I did see a counsellor once it helped a bit I'm still going which I hope ends up helping me.

I feel like I can't even control my breath anymore I don't take pills because the side effects are too much I think praying has helped me and some of the naturals remedies.

I just kee thinking is something serious and I get depressed and more stressed.

Writing this I can't even catch my breath I have a sore throat and it just stresses me out

But thank you so much for the reply xx

Thank yoy for the reply lattifa,

I'm scared to take medication because of the side effects , I haven't had panic attacks in a long time now it's just the shortness of breath and some dizziness sometimes. And very sore muscles. I hope it goes soon, I want to carry on studying!

Hope you're feeling better too. Did you do anything to help you with the anxiety apart from medication xx

I tried to so it my self for 1 month, eating well, and going out for walks, but I just got worse, and I was sooooo scared to take medication as it was 1 antidepressant that started it all off for me, I went to the Dr as I was feeling a bit down, not very bad, she gave me citalopram , I took 1 tablet and had a sever reaction to it, stomach ache sweating , vomiting, and then had a massive panick attack, the worst in my life, I felt detached from my self. Since that day I kept having panick attacks, then a constant feeling of anxiety, couldn't eat and lost a stone in weight. Then I got severe depression from it all being too much , I felt suicidle. I went to my gp and she new how scared I was of taking antidepressants, but she said its the only way and promised me I would get better. I was so scared to take this tiny pill, I started with only a quarter of the tablet for 2 days then half for a week, and didn't feel any better, the only side affect I got was feeling tired and heavy, then I took the whole tablet as my Dr said, come on you are just slowing the process of getting better, now I'm 4 weeks on 50mg of sertraline, and feeling much much better, not 100% yet but getting there.

Its up to you at the end of the day, do try and do it alone, but please dont leave it too long, especially if it gets worse.

      All the best xx

    Sal,

I had my first panic attack the first day of my senior year going back to college. I was in athletics and wasn't ready for the stress of school, looking for a career, and getting ready for my senior season. I cracked under the pressure and immediately felt the consequences both physically and mentally.

I would suggest talking to a counsellor and seeing if that helps, they also teach you some good techniques for controlling it. Now I'm not saying that they will make your anxiety go away, but it will definitely help. If you find that your symptoms are STILL to much to handle on a daily basis I would definitely talk to whoever you see about getting in medicine.

Anxiety can be a scary feeling, but with proper technique and possibly the aid of medication you can gain control of your life again.

I'm still in the process of figuring out my own anxiety, so message me if you want any further advice.

The same thing happened to me about 10yrs ago. Please be very careful about listening to certain advice on these forums such as people advising you to avoid taking medication.. You need to firstly find yourself a very competent and understanding GP/Doctor and explain to them excatly what has been happening in your life, prior to and at the time of these symptoms/panic attacks. You need to be 100% honest. Treatment is an indiviidual thing. What works for one person may not or will not work for others.

Medication in my case was and still is a lifesaver. Life will always at times present stressful situations so attempting to avoid them will not work. You will need to find coping mechanisms to help you through these difficult times, whether it be therapy etc,,.

Find what works for you. I know of many people who have consulted their GP, prescribed medication and just stuck it their top draw. The problem in all cases just got worse. Good Luck.
