Anxiety in the evening, since bad dizziness after VRT

Hi
I know this will probably sound rediculous, but its happening. I did some much faster gaze stabilization with my VRT therapist, and the same evening I had awful dizziness with floating and falling sensations all that night, so much so that I had to take a xanax to help calm me down. Well as stupid as this sounds last night and tonight, when I get home I do my exercises, from there I start to feel anxiety. I have the classic chest stuff, choking feeling, then the falling and flaoting stuff kicks in. The slightest movements with my head I feel weird, then I can't stop thinking about it. My head gets pressure and I just sit here waiting for each sensation. Its as if my brain thinks its going to be like the first night and I just worry and the anxiety sets in. I know its stupid but its happening. I know the mind remembers when bad things happen, but since this dizziness started I find it hard to just let it go. Anxiety is so hard to move past. I didn't want to go the the anxiety boards because not many have vestibular anxiety and I thought talking to others with this, you can understand. I am trying not to let this take over, but its strange how the memory can not let you forget things that scare you. This dizzy thing has been so hard for me. Anxeity disorder can really get ahold of someone. I keep thinking maybe its my thyroid meds, but I've been on them since Nov, so probably not. Its anxiety plain and simple. I know the inner ear can cause anxiety, but having GAD i think makes it so much worse.
I thought if I came here and talked about it with others who know, I would get some advice and feel better. I wish I could find a good pyschologist but right now i just can't afford it.
THanks for listening and letting me just talk.

The anxiety of a vestibular disorder is the worst!! Take it from me....the anxiety took over my life on a daily basis so i had to get that under control before anything else. Ativan .5 mg is what i took every day to keep me calm. It saved me. And it also calms the vestibular system. It slows things down but not so much that I couldnt do my exercises. It just took the edge off you know?
Try it.....i also saw a therapist but we have coverage so $ wasnt an issue.
Good luck.

It is a very common reaction to vestibular problems though, Patty. Good luck in being patient and letting this pass. You are not alone!

I could not have managed the anxiety without them.

Do the anti-depressant take away your symptoms, or just help you deal with the anxiety from it. Thanks!
