Anxiety Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Anyone else experience this?

So once i had to be rushed to the er &they told me I have irritable bowel syndrome. I've been constipated &i have to keep taking laxatives. I also have been passing excessive amounts of gas.M lap expecting a cycle . I have no pain or bleeding but it's just uncomfortable. I Googled it, which I know was a bad idea, & it said it may be a sign of an underlying cause like colon cancer or an infection which kind of got me startled. Although I know IBS is not harmful at all, it just worries be because it has no cure. I've been prescribed Bentyl but i haven't gotten the prescription yet. I don't want to have a bowel obstruction lol. My grandmother had one a while ago & she started throwing up bowel. Ew. Although that's probably WEEKS of not s**tting i won't let it get that far. I just any to know the symptoms you guys have if you have this condition, or if you have any advice! Thanks! xoxo

Look at your diet, that can cause IBS, try on this site for advise of look on NHS Choices web site, they go through this condition on their Health A to Z

If they have confirmed your condition and your GP has given medication, you take the drug as advised.

Regards Bowel Cancer you can ask for the bowel to be examined, they pass a camera up the nether regions and are able to view if anything is wrong. If you are anxious you can ask for a sedative to relax yourself. If they find anything wrong they can on most occasions fix the problem when testing. I had several Fissures and they were sorted when examining the bowel.

The day or so before the test they will give you some medicine to clear the bowel, on the day of treatment and night before you will be told to drink water only so they can see the linings. I hope this test will put your mind at rest

So you're telling me I can have a possibly serious condition eventhough I've already been diagnosed with it IBS? I've had a stomach x ray & blood teat on like the 20th of October i thought that was all they needed to know. I eat fairly well & drink plenty of water. I don't really excersise but i walk a lot around the house & sometimes I go places. Maybe that's why. I'll look into testing if i can but i don't think it's really necessary if I've already been diagnosed.

I am feeling the same way the last few weeks.  Constantly bloated and uncomfortable with intermittent constipation and excessive gas.  I don’t want to use laxatives because that scares me.   I also know that my mom’s female relatives have almost all had anxiety and IBS, often severe.  I’m sure that IBS and Anxiety go hand in hand.  I’ve been procrastinating on going to my doctor because I’m hoping I’m wrong and it’s just temporary.

Yeah I was diagnosed with it & was given Bentyl. It almost immediately took away the discomfort. Eventhough it is a chronic condition, it is treatable by a medical professional either by meds or relieving stress. It can also be severe during pms & ovulation. I've had to take a laxative twice in one week. I recommend a saline laxative. It's gentle & all it does is put water in your intestines. But you have to do something to get that waste out of your system because you could cause a problem such as a bowel obstruction. & you don't want that. If it can't come out that way, it'll come out of the other 😬
