Anxiety is back

hi

I have been taking sertraline now for about 4 months. I went through the usual low first, no sleep, no appetite etc. I came through the other side after about 6 weeks and have been getting better and better. About 1 week ago my anxiety returned over night. I started focusing on my breathing again, getting the tight feelings in my chest, it's not as bad as it was but steadily getting worse. my question is has this happened to anyone? does sertraline just stop working? I'm on 150mg already so only have one dose to move up. I'm so worried about going back to the me before sertraline. I worry that if I go to the max dose of 200mg there's no where to go after that if they don't work.

thanks all

hi there, when you say 4 months is it all on the same dose of 150mg? Also I am on 150mg and have the option to go to 175mg first before 200mg so if anything you don't have to go from 150mg to 200mg. I hope your anxiety has calmed down.

      hi

no that was moving the dose up by 50mg at a time, actually thinking about it its been more like 6 months now that I have been on them.

how long have you been on them? do you feel the need to go up again?

      thanks for replying

      Hi,

I have been on 150mg for 12 wks now. I was debating to go up to 175mg and if I feel the need to I can at anytime. I have put it on hold since I read success stories that say they felt more like themselves between 13 and 17 wks on the same dose. It's been a Rollercoaster on these meds. Over 5 months on these meds and I was like you I started on 50mg, 75mg, 100mg, 125mg and now 150mg. I definitely feel better then I did 5 months ago but I am not quite myself yet. Try to remember how long on 150mg it has been for you. My anxiety has definitely gotten better after the 10th wk on the 150mg.

What I'm worried about is the fact that I was all good, had virtually no anxiety and now I've gone backwards, just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else. I have the mental health nurse calling me on Monday so hoping she can tell me if it's normal or not and I'm not going to have to start again on a new medication.

all I can say to you is I did get better and better so definitely hold out on the 150mg.

okay I understand what you are saying. I hope you get answers on Monday. I would think they would just increase since the meds have been working well for you up to this point. I feel like I went backwards today as well so I understand the fear of having to start over.
