Hi, just wanted to put something out there to my fellow anxiety sufferers, I have never had anxiety but since being diagnosed with Labyrinthitis five months ago I wake every morning with a woozy head, mild heachaches as if I have a hangover my heart sometimes feels like it is racing, the doctor said that this was anxiety can you have it everyday! its driving me insane he put me on citalopram for a few weeks have been off them a month or so as diddn't think they helped I have diazapan as and when I need them but am trying not to use them, I find it hard to believe that anxiety can go on this long any views would be useful thanks!

    Hi Paulette,

Apparently it is possible for anxiety to last that long. I've been experiencing it constantly since may this year. I have had social anxiety in the past with totally different symptoms so I'm finding it hard to get my head around all these new symptoms. My symptoms are:

Muffled/pressure in head and ears which is sometimes accompanied with a headache

    Woozy lightheadedness

    Brain fog/unreal feeling

    Heavy eyes/fatigue

    Achy limbs

    Hot flashes

    Lack of concentration

    Constant worrying

I've had countless blood tests which have all been negative.

I'm on meds still from the social anxiety and my doc has just increased the dose this week. I'm hoping to find some relief soon.  If you didn't find that citalopram helped it may be worth trying something else, there are lots of alternatives. They'll hopefully help to relieve your symptoms.

I start counselling tomorrow which includes CBT. Have you thought about any therapy? X

Its horrible I hate being like this never had problems before this all started, got Married in June and thought that after the wedding things would get back to normal but no.  I didn't like the side effects from the meds I have an appointment with ENT next week and an MRI scan to make sure nothing going on when this is all over then hopefully my anxiety will start to ease off I am having CBT therapy on the telephone at the moment next week is my next session ! what triggered yours off do you know?

My first ever experience with anxiety was during my GCSE's which left me having a panic attack during an exam 😞 since then it's been a social thing. At one point in 06/07 for 9 months I was agoraphobic and housebound. I got over that when me and my husband moved in to our first home together. I've wobbled a few times since then but nothing I couldn't cope with. I started to feel the anxiety creeping up on me again around this time last year but managed it, then in may my great nanny died and I've not felt the same since.

My dr has referred me for a head CT scan, I have this continued worry that I've got a brain tumour or something. She's requested it purely for my peace of mind and doesn't expect to find anything from it. The thought of the CT freaks me out though!!

Is yours all stemmed from the labrynthitis? X

      Hi Paulette

3 weeks isn't enough time to be on citalopram, you need to be on it for at least 8 weeks to feel the benefits. Everyone on here will tell you the same. Unless you dont' want to use medication which is another story

Well they said it was Labrynthitis but one the main symptoms is anxiety which is obviously what has happened to me the MRI scan is purely to put my mind and the doctors at rest I'm sure there is nothing there although you cannot help but worry there is (this doesn't help either) mine is 22nd October so not long to wait good luck and thanks for your reply x

Mate I've had anxiety for nearly 15 years and there's not a day that goes by where I don't have a syptoms! However what you experiencing will pass with time and perhaps go for good depending on how you are as a person, long periods of not being happy and over thinking about symptoms will defo make you worse! I know it's hard to believe what anxiety can do but believe me it can and the sooner you except it is anxiety then the easier it gets!

Ps I've been on citilapram on and off for 15 years and I'm a much nicer person when im on them, and I feel normal!! Whatever normal is! They take a while to work and if you come off them your anxiety symptoms will get worse! Take care try to relax and except that it is anxiety you've got 😊

Paulette, I too suffered from labyrinthitus this time last year. Mine lasted for 9 months. The anxiety is being caused by ur fear of the labs. Labyrinthitus can be a scary thing because you begin to wonder if somerhing else is causing your ilness. I used to think the same way so as long as you keep worrying over labs the longer your anxiety will stick around. You have to learn how to control it. I know easier said then done. Exercise is your best bet in helping both labs and anxiety. Exercise is and was my lifesaver for both. Hope that helps to narrow it down a bit. If u have any more questions just mail me back I'll try to help ya out
