ive worked for the same company for over 10 years it was a steady day job, im on cit 20mg on maybe week 8 , i was late for work on a fair few occasions but this was not the reason for my dismissal the reason was my reaction and flipping out with one of the bosses , there is no chance of my job back so did a few days at a new firm but the pressure was really on, extremly long days with a lot of travelling and the next job was working away, it sent me in an instant downward spiral and ive had to come clean and tell them i wont be returning tomorrow , i know your not supposed to leave a job without finding a new one but my health is more important to me now, i just dont know what to do now its like my life has completly fallen apart

Hi James, I'm so sorry this has happened to you. It sounds like taking a break from work might be just what you need right now, although that might be difficult financially? From my experience, there are certain types of work environments and people that make my symptoms worse, while I'm okay in others. Over the years I've learned to say no to jobs that trigger me and yes to ones that don't. one suggestion would be to ask your GP for a referral to a counsellor - not a CBT one, but one that could help you explore how best to go forward from here from a work point of view, so that work supports you rather than makes you more ill. Alternatively, if you can afford it at all, find a local counsellor privately. Your situation may feel awful for a while yet, but it might turn out to be an opportunity to take things in a different direction. Take care

I know, it's a rubbish time of year not to be working. But, as you said in your first message, your health comes first. Glad you saw your doctor and got a referral. Talking definitely helps. You will bounce back. The hardest thing is not to push it. It's not like a cold or mild flu where you can man/woman-up and force yourself back. It takes time. I've found that the more I give myself a break and allow the horrible feeling to be, the quicker it lifts a bit. You might want to try some mindfulness meditation to help with that. I've been using the Headway app for that and find it helps a lot. Some areas run mindfulness classes too, usually quite low cost. Hope that's all useful. Let us know how you're doing!
