Hey Steph, it's not the allergies that causes my shortness of breath, it's the anxiety.. I've had shortness of breath for a while but only now have I gotten the allergies. sad

Hi Gabby, I'm sorry you are anxious of this...I will try to help you... if this is only happening when you are thinking of it, you don't have to afraid. If you can't breath all the time, then a nurse and doctor will help you. Try to keep busy, turn on music, go for a bike ride, make some cookies, watch a funny movie..take some nice slow easy breaths. Try to replace fear with fun things. When anxiety tries to come in, tell it to STOP.. take nice easy slow deep breaths... wrap up in a comforting soft warm blanket and tell yourself this fear will very soon pass..

Gabbi, if it's any consolation I have the exact same problem. I started  with panic attacks after having what I thought was a reaction to food. I then continued to have  them whenever I ate anything that gave me a slight wheeze. ( have asthma)  Anyway, long story short, after numerous  visits to the Dr and a respiratory specialist  i have been referred to a respiritory physiotherapist to help try and control my breathing, which in turn should  help with the breathlessness. He seems to think hyperventilation is the root cause. A viscious cycle of anxiety leading to hyperventilation, leading to panic attack and then to breathing problems. This in turn appears to have made me more susceptible to allergies and so the cycle goes on. Maybe you could visit your GP and explain your symptoms. Being low in iron or B12 can cause breathlessness too.

    Hope this helps a little?
