Anxiety Medication?????

Posted , 9 users are following.

So I have an appointment for Tuesday for the doctors cause my anxiety is getting worse and I can’t cope with it anymore.

I already take Fluoxetine (Prozac) for depression, I was wondering if there are anti- anxiety medications I can take whilst on Prozac or if I would have to change my antidepressants too (cause I find they do work for my low moods).

Any advice would be great xx

I can’t bring myself to leave the house at the minute, I am constantly worried about things and having irrational thoughts and I have had two panic attacks over the last 3 days.

It has actually gotten to the point where I have considered hurting myself so that I wouldn’t feel like this anymore.

    Erin

There are other medications that can marry up with Prozac, although He may increase your dose, depending on how long you have been on them or take you of this medication and introduce you to another drug. He may give another drug to marry up with the Prozac. He has many different things He could try.

If your medications are working well the saying comes to mind. If it is not broke do not fix it comes to find please do not worry all will be ok

Hi, Erin. How long have you been taking fluoxetine. Have you read about the side effects of your meds. Alot of depression meds when you start on them can bring on bothersome side effects. I use to take the same med for anxiety and the side effects from the med was worse to me than my own anxiety symptoms. I took it for 3 weeks and decided to stop using it also I was lucky not to have any withdrawal effects. Not reccomending you do this. But, I can gadly say that with the help of faith in God and quoting scriptures helped me tremendously than any meds can help. Everybody has their own way of coping with this. Find one that works for you. YouTube some ideas and try them. Feel better!!

      Consider CBT.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the most widely-used therapy for anxiety disorders. Research has shown it to be effective in the treatment of panic disorder, phobias, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder, among many other conditions.

Cognitive behavioral therapy addresses negative patterns and distortions in the way we look at the world and ourselves. As the name suggests, this involves two main components:

Cognitive therapy examines how negative thoughts, or cognitions, contribute to anxiety.

Behavior therapy examines how you behave and react in situations that trigger anxiety.

The basic premise of cognitive behavioral therapy is that our thoughts—not external events—affect the way we feel. In other words, it’s not the situation you’re in that determines how you feel, but your perception of the situation. For example, imagine that you’ve just been invited to a big party. Consider three different ways of thinking about the invitation, and how those thoughts would affect your emotions.

    Hi Erin

I was on 20mg of prozac until about 2 weeks ago when my doctor upped it to 40mg. I believe prozac is for anxiety too so maybe if you up your dose it may make your anxiety better. Since being on 40mg I am beginning to feel slightly less anxious, although it will most likely take a while longer to have the full effect.

I am on 60mg of Fluoxetine, which is as high a dose as you’re allowed, going to stick with the diazepam through the stresses of this week, then do the six week course of CBT.
