Anxiety/ my old self

Posted , 5 users are following.

Ok so first week of citalopram, felt horrible. I feel like I'm back to the start. Last two years I enjoyed most of my life, going out with my gf and general things. My anxiety in mornings is worse. And seems to come in waves. I'm taking 10mg citalopram at night. I can remember everything but I don't feel like me. I just want to feel like my old self again and get on with my life. I feel hopeless and really down about it all.

My anxiety in the mornings is also really bad, I just feel downright awful. I've had it for 7mnths and besides the first time when I had an attack, I'm not on meds.

I've started having bad dreams again and I plan to go to the doctor to get checked out but I'm terrified because of all the weird aches I feel sometimes.

It is horrible, the fear is everything destroys you. Citalopram are supposed to be good for anxiety but take a bit of time to kick in. Chat with your doctor about it, I'm always here for support

See if your Dr will up you to 20mg. I still don't feel right yet but the anxiety spiked while on 10mg for 5 weeks, which was too long on that dose.

After less than a week on 20mg the anxiety has decreased. Still tries to pop up but I seem to be able to control it.

    Good luck,

    Diane

Not sure my last msg made it through. Just wanted to say that my dose moving up to 20mg makes me feel more normal. I can laugh and smile. I still get a lot of edgy feeling but I have been able to keep them more in check at this time.

      Thanks Sue

Sounds good. I honestly don't care how long I have to take it, I just want to feel good.

I had a heart procedure in February that triggered all this so my goal now is,to protect my heart from those really high numbers.

Hi sue, thanks for your message. I'm hoping going up to 20 mg will do the trick. I feel ok in short doses with 10mg. Hope everything goes ok with you.

I suggest that you read what I and others have witten to people and written about what we've done about anxiety. There is already a lot of helpful info. here. I am dealing with anxiety for the first time in my life and am finding out lots. Did you know foods with zinc and mangesium, and walnuts and almonds can make you feel better. Also, some sort of meditation or yoga. Checkout conversations with Fowldays on this site, also. You will get a lot of help here.

I am getting helpful ideas from doing what I suggested to you...read other responses as well as posting your own questions. You deserve a lot of praise for coming for help, as do many of us. Hang in there....and check Google for foods that help and FOODS THAT CAUSE anxiety. I had big changed just from eating differently.
