Anxiety over seeing a gp

Hi, I got some concerns that have been bugging me for months, both are annoying and hard to ignore and wandering if I can get advice.

I have generalised anxiety and mild depression social anxiety and health anxiety with constant uncomfortable feelings.

This obsession with my health, replaying my symptoms to a doctor in my mind.

I don't do it often, but my current persistent problems... my nasal and ear problems, and lower left side pain are making me obsess.

I feel anxious about seeing the doctor, I always feel anxious and that feeling I'm wasting their time everytime I go there. Just that feeling in the back of my head, picking the phone up makes me feel awkward.

Even when I get an appointment for something like injections for holiday abroad I feel nervous but it goes away.

If I should make an appointment, how should I make it?

They usually ask if it is an emergency or routine...routine are at times longer, but there's the option of a nurse calling back to go through symptoms and usually during the day or next day.

Am I wasting their time asking if I can ask the nurse?

Because I'm not sure. If I wait for appointments I obsess more on what to say so I don't miss something or go mind blank.

(Sorry this is a silly question or sounding thick)

Despite nasal steroid sprays for my sinuses feeling like pressure in the back of nose and full itchy ear, I still feel the same.

And despite normal urine and blood test because of my lower left side discomfort, which is usually sore and mild a few months ago, I still feel the same..

I noticed a bit of red mucus in my stool today, tried to keep my mind off it but it was still there in the back of my head trying to tickle my lower left side. I don't know why I examine my stools, its like OCD.

I have a feeling I really should get myself checked again, but also feel I should keep trying to ignore my symptoms as it means I'm letting hypochondria take over me.

When this wave of anxiety depression nausea fatigue indigestion takes over everyday it's hard to know when I should get checked or ignore it as just anxiety because anxiety has caused me a lot of mystery feelings.

I try to keep my mind focusing on something else but my mind automatically goes to searching for the feelings. Like when my ear itchess, or nose blocks up or feels heavy or haven't urinated or gone to do my business which causes the lower left sie pain and sonetimes leg/joint numbness ..

I hate the idea of showing my butt.

Don't know what they can do with my nose either...

I have a lopnsided nose and deaf in one ear. Horrible when I get ocasional 1 second deafness.

Never had problems with them before.

I even get new symptoms of brain fog.

It sucks and I feel fed up.

I'm already feeling fed up and trapped in a job I don't enjoy, now this past 2 years it's constant annoying feelings. All mild, not severe, but annoying and uncomfortable especially these 2.

Hi Red first off you shouldn't be taking steroid spray on a continuous basis for nasal congestion, your GP should be referring you to an ENT specialist to possibly explore surgery to correct the problems you have, steroid sprays are short term remedies and can cause greater problems further down the line.

Your apprehension about making/seeing your GP are quite normal, well they are to me, I always get the jitters especially if I'm making the appointment for something I'm already worried about.

You say you have bloody mucus on your stools, if this is a regular occurrence then it's a definite GPs appointment to get that sorted and I would suggest you get a sample of it to take with you, this could be a case of UC or it could be that you have eaten something red like Tomatoes, beetroot etc and your health anxiety is causing you to over react to what you think your seeing.

I hope your going to see someone ASAP and also explain to them your fears and what you consider to be health anxiety, symptoms should be checked and considering yours are definitely not anxiety induced then sooner than later.
