Hi Katie, I did the same and I think everyone on them for anxiety probably does too as I can't ever let small differences in the way I feel/sensations in my body go and always decide they are the worst possible option. However, I am now mid way through week 5 and the side effects have calmed down a lot, I do still get a bit of anxiety but this is generally just in the evening now and only lasts about an hour.

I hope that the symptoms your feeling ware off soon, I felt quite bad for the first 3 weeks but I spoke to my GP and found it very reassuring.

Thank you. I feel a bit spaced out and was thinking about giving up, but I'm going to ride it out, hoping that I feel better soon.

      Hi Katie

what dosage are you on.  I also experiencing side effects.  Theta are not fun but I hear they go away after awhile.  Mine are still with me but we all react differently to these meds.  What you are feeling are normal not fun but normal.  Many times I have debated about staying on but I decided to give them another couple of weeks.  Now into four weeks on 50mg.  If you would like more details please ask.  Take care

Hi Lynda. I am on 50mg. I'm trying my best to fight side effects but it isn't working. My anxiety is worse because I am worrying over them.

My advice. Please stop reading side effects. Throw away the paper, don't google and let the tablets begin to take shape. Ask your friends or family or Dr to monitor your progress but don't read the Internet and or the paper out of the packet.

Sertraline has helped me enormously but it does take time. Life changes may be needed to.

One thing I found helped when I started. I took the tablets as I went to sleep so I couldn't worry about what they were doing!

Hi katie. I have been taking sertraline since january. I had all awful side effects for about 4 weeks. the only side effect i get now is occational night sweats. I feel pretty good most of the time. Every now and then i feel low but i tell myself it will pass and it does. I dont really get anxiety anymore. Only maybe slightly now and again. Hang in there it will get better xx

Keep going - it will get bettter, slowly, probably without you realising it. Just eat what you can, dont stress over it.  I have been on them since November and even now I wont take one without having food. I take it in the morning once i have eaten, either at home or at work as I have to do the school run and it depends on how late I am running smile  Any questions please ask - Side effects are not nice but dont dwell on them too much and get some fresh air when u can - even if its a tiny walk x

Hello, I'm a 20 year old female, I got started on Sertraline 50mg 3 months ago, the side effects were horrible, I felt like even walking was taking all my energy, I kept yawning(a common side effect) and I had shortness of breath and jaw clenching. I felt a lot more anxious too! They were working for the first month or so, and I felt better, I've recently been put on 100mg and I've been on for about a week, can't say I'm noticing much difference but I haven't let it work yet, you should start to feel better. The side effects can be horrible!
