Anxiety/panic attacks new member

Hello, everyone I just joined the forum afet reading for the last few weeks. I've suffered anxiety and panic attacks for years. Six months ago my Mom passed away, she was my only relative left. Anyway I've been having a terrible increase in my condition symptoms since . To the point I'm getting afraid to leave the house. I'm 63yrs old and never thought it would get this bad, I'm overwhelmed at this point and not sure what to do. I'll see my doctor next week and see if he can adjust my meds or get me an apt. With a psychiatrist. This is the worst condition to live with.

Thank you Lynne, I believe the stress of my Moms illness and passing made my condition worse. The last 3-4months have been bad. I've been reading the forum and it does give me hope and comfort that I'm not alone. I felt I was the only one until I found this.

I'm sorry you're going through this too, especially with a young child. That makes it even worse. It's a terrible condition to deal with and nobody understands these feelings unless they've been through them. I hope we all get better and get our lives back.

Are you seeking any counseling?  I highly recommend it.  In the mean time you could research CBT anxiety disorders, etc.  If you have a smart phone I recommend you download M.i.n.d.S.h.i.f.t. excellent app.

Hello Shaman I am truely sorry for you loss.  Try to accept and aknowledge your are dealing with normal emotions after losing someone important in you life.  I just wanted to also say that you are well on your way to recovery for the fact that you are reaching out for help.  You are also going the right direction of seeking your doctors advice and seeking counseling on dealing with your feelings.  I wish you peace of mind!

Thank you Michaelall35712. I've gotten several e books on it from Amazon and I downloaded a couple of apps. The one you suggested above Mindfulness. But it does get overwhelming putting it into practice.

basically facing the fear and allowing it to pass through.

This is a great site, so many helpful people working together and supporting each other.

      thank you all
