Anxiety / Panic Without Racing Heart? I'm Scared

Hi guys, for the past few weeks I've been having high anxiety with some panic attacks, each time my heart raced and increased between 96 - 120 BPM. For the past two days however, my heart isn't budging although I am really anxious and scared. My resting heart rate is 58 -65 BPM and although I am anxious it stays there. Sometimes it will go up to 75 and maybe 84 for a brief second but quickly drops back down to my resting heart rate. Should this be something I should be concerned about? Did anxiety cause any heart damage? I am so scared. Just two weeks ago I went to the hospital and was told I was fine after some test. But now I don't know what to think. I am so scared that something is wrong!

First of all, please do not panic. I panic easily as well and my mind ends up thinking about the worse case scenario sometimes. I think the fact that you check your heart rate is worse than not doing it because you become quite fixated on that and think something's wrong as soon as there is something "abnormal" when in reality, it's just stress.  From what I have read, panic attacks (I experience them myself), do not cause any heart damage so rest assured, there is nothing wrong! Hope this helps a little bit smile

Those numbers are fine, everyone's heart rate increases during panic. Don't monitor these things, the action of monitoring can increase it as your expecting it to be high

But that's the thing, my heart isn't racing anymore although I am really anxious. I am aksing is it possible to be anxious & panicky without a fast heart beat? I usually have a fast heart beat but for the past two days it doesn't race. It stays between 58 - 66 BPM.

I know what you mean because this happens to me I will be super anxious on edge but heart rate will be 54-70. I get panic attacks and heart rate will be 120-140. I was obsessed with checking my heart rate all day even downloaded a heart rate monitor on my phone. I still check it but not as much as I use to. Last year I went to E.R. once a week sometimes twice a week I finally had to come to terms that all this madness is anxiety woke up one day and said no I need to get my life back and for the most part I have. I still get the occasional anxiety or fast heart rate but instead of freaking out I tell myself you have felt this before and your still here your fine. Some days when I feel it creeping in or trying to I say yea no not today anxiety f u lol getting angry and fighting back has worked for me. smile you will be fine seriously you are fine. Anxiety is a motha the mind is a strong thing and can be a liar, fight back. smile guaranteed you'll win.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been struggling with anxiety and panic for 2 years now on a daily basis. When it initially started I'd have full on panic attacks with a fast heart rate... eventually I stopped having those major attacks and started getting what I call mini attacks where I have some symptoms of a proper attack but not all of them. My heart rate typically stays in the normal range now. I can get nausea, hot flashes, dizziness, weakness, and other things but my heart rate rarely gets above 70s anymore. Of course after 2 years and extensive testing that all comes back fine, I'm still not convinced my problem is solely anxiety/panic disorder, but that's another story. If you've been checked out, as difficult as it is to accept, you'll be alright. Just think of it as your anxiety evolving... it does change, the longer you struggle with it.

Hi I don't know if mine are panic or anxiety attacks ? My heart doesn't race (well not that I notice but I just get this most awful scared feeling come over me and I just go to pieces I get tingling I can't focus on anything and I just completely panic ....  Each time I feel so out of control and although it only lasts for a few minutes I then go into myself and all I can think about is its going to happen again?? Does anyone else get this ? It's so so horrible 😱

I'm having the same issue. My heart beats irregularly - PVCs and fluttering, but the BPM is normal. Briefly up to 88, but drops back to high 50s or 60 quickly. Last night I had a panic attack and took my BP and HR uring. HR was 88 and BP was 110-75 - pretty low for me. Very weird. I have SVT and take Metoprolol and I have an appt at the end of June. I plan to ask about this. What I think of as a pounding heart might just be awareness of my heart beat and the fluttering

I have had anxiety and panic attacks for 40 years, I use to have a fast hr, but last 5 years my HR will be like yours but between 54 to 64, I can be all stressed and anxious and it will remain the same, it never increases unless it turns into Panic mode, then it will get up to just below 100 bpm, I have had extensive testing and procedures done by a Cardiologist and nothing has been found, everything is always normal, I'm not sure why it does this and no one has a very clear answer to why, and I know as for me, its driving me nuts with everything trying to figure out why or what could possibly be the problem.

I wish you the best of luck and if u find out the problem, please let us know.
