Anxiety, stress...at this point, I hope it's costo.

Hey everyone! The lasts two months have been the worst of my life. Two months ago I went to the hospital after feeling extremely light headed and dizzy. They said I had a sinus infection, the gave me abx and Prednisone steroid shot/ meds. The steroid meds were 7 day 60mg a day dose no taper, after a few days the infection was gone but I started having panic attacks and chest pain. (I've never had any issues with anxiety). I actually thought it was the end for a few weeks, I even check in on my life insurance. Haha.

I've been to the ER, 5 times since. They've run blood work, EKG, chest XRay, heart monitor etc... everything came back fine every time. I don't smoke, rarely consume alcohol, I'm 28, 6ft and 185lbs without any prior health issues, they said I was in great condition. I was treated for acid reflux, then given muscle relaxers, then anxiety and abx, then ketoralac(?). Finally 2 days ago I went back, they mentioned Costo. They wrote a script for Paxil and Hydroxyzine for anxiety and 150mg a day of indomethacin.

I have pain under and around my left clavicle. I also have pain near my left scapula that comes and goes. The pain I can deal with, but sometimes the pain will hit and trigger an anxiety attack. It's slowly getting better, but I feel like I'm walking around in a haze waiting for it to hit again. I no longer feel like eating, I cut out all alcohol, soda, caffeine, and most processed suger the last 2 months. I've lost 30lbs (now 155). The throbbing in my chest keeps me awake at night, my chest "pops" when stretch in the morning, it's just an overall scary experience.

Is there any way this could all be from some chest inflammation? At this point, I really hope that's the answer.

Thanks!

    Hi Cdan,

I'm not a dr. but have costro for over a year now. I too have been to ER many, many times. I have been to a cardiologist, who ran tests..all normal..Thank God. That definitely helped me feel better thats its not my heart. I have also been to a rheumatologidst...to rule out any auto immune diseases. I have ulcerativr coloitis thats in remission for several years now. When my costro flares the pain is horrible!!!! I also have anxiety issues, but am on meds for that. that helps alot. I too have lost 40 pounds in the last 3 months..cutting out sugar, caffeine, and diet soda. We are on the right road for sure to healing. have you been to a pain specialist, or accupuncturist yet? or seen a therapist? I have. It all helps alot.    I also find sitting out on a nice day boosts my spirits. and I pray alot. It works for me. Spinach is good for inflammation and walnuts, and bluv\berries too. hang in there. It gets better.

Thank you! I have been making antioxidant and spinach smoothies. I haven't seen anyone outside of a GP. My girlfriend is a physical therapist, she has been researching methods to help with the pain. The pain is manageable, but the anxiety is terrible. I feel like the origin of the anxiety is tied to the weakness caused by the costo. I try to distract myself from the anxiety, but this whole situation has made me somewhat agoraphobic. I fear being too far from home or the hospital. Haha

Me too. I think it drives my husband and kids crazy sometimes, but I'm trying to work on that. I like being close to ER, eventhough I know its not anything life threatening or cardiac. I've become a bit of a homebody myself. Yesterday I forcedmyself to drive to a local walgreens and another store, and drive. I didnt stay long, but I did it. Little baby steps. It might behoove you to see a counselor. I do. She has helped me tremendously. Anxiety sucks!!! Good luck to you. We are all in this together. smile smile
