Anxiety/stress following my husband's stroke

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi, I'm not new to anxiety but these past three weeks it's ramped up a bit. My husband had a TIA a few weeks ago , I already had some anxiety for which I am taking citalopram 5mgs but these past few weeks I have been getting some weird feelings. My head feels fuzzy and full, I cannot seem to get a clear head these days. I'm not dizzy but feel I could be at any moment. My heart races and I get missed beats. I have a lot of pressure on me for instance to drive, which I have not been doing much of since lockdown. I get exhausted but feel worse after laying down. Any ideas please?

    HI Jan,

Aww this has added pressure on you and I can imagine you feel like husband will have another. Are the meds new I was wondering if they have any side effects to them? Time will make the feeling go about him having another one. I think its a month for TIA for him to drive if the dr says its ok. i have posted with depression, my partner had a non epileptic seizure at xmas and its six months until he drives and so pressure is on me until then and to run his van which I hate driving or it will seize up. MAke sure you have time to yourself as you deserve it.

make sure that you are taking care of yourself. That’s the best gift that you can give your husband.

Take some time out to relax, deep breathing, meditation to bring down your level of anxiety. you tube has some great meditations for anxiety to calm down your body and mind!

your sensations are very common with anxiety and stress. I have experienced all of those and still do from time to time. They are not harmful but I know how scary they can feel.

Make sure you are staying hydrated with water and eating healthy.

try to get a little bit of exercise in even if it’s just walking. Those breaks are very important!

there are some great support groups in most communities for people in family members affected by TIA, stroke, etc. You can check those out!

you are going to be OK. Just take one day at a time . ❤

Thanks both for replying. These symptoms are so scary but it's reassuring to know that they are not unusual for anxiety/stress. I do exercise my dog twice a day but I sometimes feel spaced out whilst walking, not quite myself. I'm sorry you have your own problems too, I send my best wishes to you both.
