Anxiety / stress weight loss

I feel annoying for posting so much, but I have another issue.

I've been going through hell the past couple of weeks (started the beginning of March). Health scare, after health scare. And now I'm going through and being tested for the worst health scare yet; I wouldn't even really class it as a "scare" because it's very real and doesn't feel like health anxiety this time.

Anyways, I can't eat or drink due to my anxiety/stress (I hope that's the cause anyways). I have no appetite at all and I can't force it. It's hard to even drink water. If I do get an appetite, it's short lived and I can only get a few bites in.

I've lost ten pounds (about a stone) since the beginning of March. And 6 pounds just within the last few days.

I know I'm barely eating at all, but is it possible to lose this much weight due to anxiety and stress?

Thank you so much.

I would say it's definitely possible to loose that much weight due to anxiety and stress. I had a friend loose an EXTREME amount of weight due to anxiety/depression. Don't stress yourself more! You're gonna be okay smile. No matter what! But I'm sure it's from anxiety and stress!

Yes I convinced myself I had cancer and had so mant awful physical symptoms icluding no appetite at all and like you just could not eat and I lost about 5 kgs in 5 weeks. Ive never lost weight in my life before even if I tried too. Im much better now and seems it is posible it was all due to anxiety over my health.

Yes. In my experience weight loss is a easily possible. I dropped 16pounds in a cycle of anxiety in the past.  If its any help a few of those pounds is dehydration too. When this happens i use boost/ensure drinks, electrolyte drinks and even if its two ounces of water every half an hour get it in your body. It helps. Its so easy to loose weight very fast with all this. The anxious body burns calories very rapidly rememeber its in fight or flight triggers adrenaline and the calories are not being fed to the body, but always good to get an exam and be sure. If possible eat a banana or an avacadoe before bedtime, you really want to balance blood sugars if possible because otherwise you end up awakening very early shaking and feeling awful and you think its more anxiety when it low blood sugar adding to it. (Inhave figured that much out by experiecing it one too many times then realized it) not saying you csnt get morning anxiety saying its worsened by low blood sugar.

i hope you feel better. This takes lots of time to accept and deal with. The acceptance takes a longer time id say many many months before you release it is an anxiety disorder. And look theres no trade offs many have coexisting issues too,

Talk with your GP about this, if you are unable to eat or drink you need help.

Whatever you do it is very important you dink something.

If you are loosing weight this ca be caused by Mental Illness so when you phone the Surgery explain to the Reception you need to be seen ASAP/URGENT.

my anxiety was so severe and it wasn't job related that i missed a couple of days due to severe anxiety attacks and at that point wasn't diagnosed by a doctor as to what it was.  i thought i was having serious heart issues and so on.  i was in my mid 20s then.  to answer your question, i took a couple of days off from work and in that stretch lost 10lbs.  i just told my boss i was sick, of course, covering what was really going on fearing i'd lose my job.  when i went back to work a couple of days later i was pale and 10lbs lighter to which his response was, "jesus dude you still look sick".  anxiety is brutal and if you do some reading on it...high states of stress elevates your metabolism quite a bit so it's two-fold if you're not eating and stressed out.  again, very possible to lose this much weight in a few days.  have you been to your doctor for a general checkup and explain what you're going through?
