Hi
What symptoms do you get with anxiety? I'm nearly 4wks into fluoxetine and still struggling my anxiety is horrendous the now.
Can't sleep, eat, body chills, sweating, chest pain, upper back ache, body tingles really glutty throat constant swallowing and have a horrible taste in my mouth, tight throat . No energy, wretching, Is this all normal, keep convincing myself it's something serious, just feeling miserable and want to feel myself again.

i felt all of that and reduced my meds after 8 weeks. I could not handle it anymore. it made me feel so much worse than I was feeling before hand so it was not worth it to me. It took my body two months to adjust to getting off of 20 mg to 10mg. I am finally back to myself and feel so much better. I genuinely felt it was too much seratonin for my body and wonder if there is better ned out there for me for amxiety. i do there is a blood test you can take to see what drug suits you best.
if you do stick with it I would stay on this form as much as possible as it really helped me. Good luck! Oh...and xanax helped a lot!

hi. I'm sorry you feel so bad. honestly I got off the fluoxetine after 2 and a half weeks. It really did make me feel so much worse. I understand meds take time but no one should feel so awful. I personally think that medicine is just too strong for some people.

Everyone has a unique positive/negative experience. SSRI's are a hit and miss in finding the right one. But when you found the right one, it's worth it.
My personal experience was that it took 5 or 6 weeks to get past the nasty side effects. Week 3-4 were tough. I felt like I had constant adrenaline and moderate levels of anxiety. I had requested a different SSRI from my physician during week 4 and he told me to give it 6 weeks which I wasn't pleased with. At that point I cut my 20mg down to 10mg and that brought down the side effects to a tolerable level. That may be a worth a shot for you. I then titrated my dose backup to the 20 mg gradually during week 5 and 6. That's my experience but you should talk to your doc and determine your next step. Your side effects seem a bit intense, your doctor may prescribe something different.

Hi
Thank you so much for your reply, I think I'm just having a really bad day and feeling sorry for myself and making my anxiety go through the roof that's making me ill, I'm so tense and struggling to relax, have stayed in all day and I think my mind is thinking too much 🙄, I think I'm just going through a tough week and I'm sure it will get easier. I'm getting a lot of acid reflux due to anxiety so it's not helping. Thanks again for messaging.

I totally understand this. I felt exactly the same but then realised that medication alone was not going to get me better so I started researching.
I got on you tube and searched how to calm my nervous system then I started following an amazing lady on facebook called Nicola Bird. Her book little peace of mind helped me to stop over thinking and realise thoughts come and go and that's ok to just let them pass through and not to over think these.
Headspace clips on youtube are fab and all free.
Eventually I have now started taking 20mg of fluxoetine every other day and this really helped me to sleep and not experience the awful side effects as I think it was just to harsh on my body like it possible is yours. Good luck x
