Anxiety symptoms since bad meeting at work last week. How long does this last?

Hello all! So comforting finding a group who understands. Had a bad meeting at work and essentially work in a toxic environment. I cant quit, need the money. I have been feeling all over anxious, rapid heartbeat, hot flashes, mostly all day since the meeting. How long can these symptoms last? I get anxious over feeling this way which makes it worse.

I couldn’t say how long it will last. I do know continuing to be in a toxic environment will most likely not help your anxiety. Could you possibly look for another job? It’s worth a try, especially if your current job environment makes you feel this way.

Everybody is different, I had bad anxiety back in October after a stressful week of layoffs. I've been dealing with it now for 3 months. I've found anxiety is like a brick wall, once anxiety smashes the wall down, it takes time to build the wall back up again. Some people can build the wall quickly and others it takes longer. For me if I get stressed again it smashes the wall down again and I have to start over. If you decide to stay in your current job then you need to learn to cope and build yourself back up using relaxation techniques and CBT if the anxiety won't go away on it's own.

Tip: Keep an eye on your posture, often times anxiety causes us to go into a defensive posture which can limit our breathing and can cause symptoms. Emphasize your posture so you can breath correctly and your body gets proper oxygen smile

Thank you all so very much for your reply. I am constantly looking for new employment. Bosses can sure make an environment toxic. Andrew, thank you for understanding and your similar experiences made me feel better. I have felt my shoulders tighten up so much and try to relax them. Will check my posture today. We got this!
