i have had little success with conventional medications and would like to know if anyone has been able to deal with the symptoms of anxiety by using things like omega 3, vitamins b and d, magnesium, or any others.

It's an old wives tales that these things have any effect on anxiety, and they certainly will be ER take it away. They can make people feel physically better, for some that's enough. If you want a non medicated approach then try psychotherapy. It's very effective

I do use omega 3 butbecause i am a wimp and wuld worry that i could overload my body with things i dont need. I dont take anything else i sometimes use a magnesium spray oil on my legs at night.
I found that CBT and mindfulness was the way forward for me. To change my whole thought pattern on how i dealt with my thought pattern and the physical symptoms anxiety presented.

i am going down the cbt route but not sure how effective it has been for anxiety. Still wake feeling agitated inside about nothing. Do you think it will just take time? I asked psychologist about psychotherapy and she said it was a whole different thing, raking up your past and that was not necessarily helpful. Mindfulness inam interested in but so anxious i cannot make myself go to a class yet.

I think saying stuff like this is an "old wives tale" is wrong. Pharmaceuticals help lots of people no doubt, but they do nothing more than mask the symptoms. For some people this works and they live life, others go through a period of increasing dosages, pill changes, and worse anxiety. I do agree that if you want to go the non drug route you need to see a counselor, coach, or psycholotherapist. I've heard wonders about magnesium but haven't tried it. My therapist has me taking GABA and 5-HTP. So far so good but I'm not anxiety free completely, working on the brain for that. You can google a ton on natural approaches that do work, but it takes work. I do EMDR therapy and talk therapy and it's a process. I don't believe antidepressants and anti anxiety meds are the solution to us anxiety people, but they are helpful to get back to ourselves.
