Anxiety turned into insomnia

hello,

i have never done anything like this but at this point i feel the need to discuss this with someone who may have experienced what i have. it all started 2 years ago with anxiety attacks. they consisted off shortness of breath, fast heart rate, at one point i thought i was going to die and ended up in the hospital a few times. i was given xanax multiple times but i never wanted to be on it long term. i tried celexa and it wasnt good. then i went without meds for anwhile until one day i just stopped sleeping. it was difficult to fall asleep abd when i ddi i would sleep for 2-3 hours. my anxiety got worse i was zombie during the day. then i was perscribed mertazpine. i am taking 3.75 mg of mertazpine and now sleeping okay. some says are good and aome days are bad. i also take 100mg gabapentin and 10 mg melatonin every night. i am sleeping when i do this. but injust want to slee without meds. has anyone dealt with this. i keep questioning my diagnosis. am i bipolar but my psych doc says no. ive only had anxiety, depressive symptoms, and insomnia. please share if you have dealt with rhis. i am 29 and have never had sleep issues or mental issues until this happened. sleep issues for 6 minths. doc says its due to andiety and stress. which inhave been under alot of stress for past 4-5 years.

    Hi John,

I too had sleeping problems, depression, stress and anxiety after a failed relationship. I watched plenty of motivating videos to help myself come out of this depression. I would stare at the roof all night and could not even sleep an hour, as the situation and my health started deteriorating. My friend suggested consulting a therapist. I did, The therapist later helped, to overcome pain and grief, I started meditating and doing exercises, taking care of my health and diet. It helped me in a lot of ways to find sleep back again. I would recommend you do the same. It worked on me, wish it does on you too.
