Anxiety when just upon waking up, and chills

Hi ladies

I deal with another issue that bothers me often. As soon as I wake up in the morning I feel so anxious and nervous. Than the chills come. Do any of you experience this also? I am so tired of this. I want to be the person I used to be.

    Hi Maria,

I am9 years post menopause. For the last year I have woken up and that moment even though my eyes are not even open, I am anxious and nervous. I am on medication for anxiety too. I fight all the symptions all day. When I am having a better day, I wonder what the fuss is, and bam it starts . I really do not know what to tell you. I have so many physical symptoms.

    Do you have anxiety ?

      Hi Lolasmom,

Yes I do have anxiety, It seems to rear its ugly head just as I am waking up. Sometimes it is accompanied by feelings of doom and despair. When it happens I jump immediately and take my magnesium supplement, along with my St. Johns Wort. I start to feel better in about 2 hours.

I can't believe you are 9 years post and still have symptoms. Does it ever end?

Apparently not Maria. Just do sad that we have to let be like this. I have so many symptoms....hard to know if it is anxiety or not.......

Does weather bother you......like cloud movement, parametric pressure etc. I guess it depends on where you live. I am in Toronto Canada

Yes, I noticed for several years that when winter is here, I get depressed even more. I do better in the summer. Taking walks in the sunlight helps lift my mood. I live in New York. Winter will soon be approaching. I am already trying to figure out some strategies to get me through.

      Dear Maria

I hahave experienced anxiety in meno but taking magnesium in my multi vit s daily has helped, I do have moments but they are short lived. These dark evenings approaching in winter wont help it gets dark here in England by four in winter, what helps me is to fill the house with lights, I have quite a. few dotted around the place subtle lighting and this seems to helps me greatly x

Hi lolasmum....i definitely think the weather influences my symptoms.

I have noticed on a full moon i don't sleep deeply and when it is humid with a storm coming i get really achy. I live in qld australia and we have bad humidity here so I am rarely cold. On the good side we have lots of sunshine which makes me happier...i feel worse on an overcast day.

Hi Maria....my symptoms come and go randomly too. I have been great for a couple of months but it hit me again this week. I have been pretty stressed the last couple of weeks though so i think it makes it worse. I just want to be normal again sad

Hi Maria I am also 9 years post and still dealing with all of this I wake up some morning in full anxiety mode with sweaty hands and feet my heart is racing and I have no idea why then the flushes start and the inside shakes. I hate all these symptoms and look forward to the day when I am done with all of this.

Yeah I get this. Some mornings as soon as I open my eyes, fear and anxiety grip me. Everything from loud noises to bright light almost send me into a panic attack. Takes a while but calms down after a while of battling my own mind for a hour or two. It exhausting isn't it? You are not alone with this. I feel for you.

When my Dr asked me why I was anxious and what set it off he looked a bit confused when I said opening my eyes sets it off!

Morning anxiety is the worst !!! I went through a long period of upon waking I would immediately feel the knot in my stomach with nervousness and/or dizziness. I think we become so consumed with all these new and crazy horrendous symptoms we subconsciously awake anticipating what we will feel that day. On top of daily duties , we wonder how to have a "good" day. I don't know the answer to it but it helped me when I really focused on the night before having downtime. When I awake and feel the anxiety, I force myself out of bed and push forward to get myself ready for the day (even though I REALLY didn't want to!) I still feel that way at times throughout the month but I deep breathe and tell myself it will pass. I find something to look forward to doing and get busy busy. It's hard but each day got a little better when it seemed never ending .

Yes, you are right. As soon as I open my eyes, I jump up and get out of the bed. The longer I stay in bed the more intense the feelings are. I just want that sense of calmness and peacefulness I once had. I can deal with the other symptoms, but not these.

Hi,  I noticed the anxiety and chills recently.  I searched and found this site...yay!  I hadn't put the two together yet.  I have hot flashes now and then and can hardly stand the feeling.  I live in Tx, so it's very hot during the summer and not very cold during the winter.  Anyhow, one thing I've found that has helped more than anything ( I take anxiety meds only when necessary) is physical exercise.  If you're unable to do more than walk on a treadmill...that's okay.  I always feel at ease and energized on days that I do yoga or Pilates.  I try to go 3-4 times a week.  When I can't due to scheduling...BAM...all symptoms come back full force.

My best friend and I joke about the hot flashes, etc often...but it's really very miserable.  All of it!   I hope things are better for you. smile

I too have had very severe Anxiety and very nervous of no one wanting me around, ive given my husband hell, constant questioning, telling him I know he no longer wants me, he stays out of pity.. im a nutter some days, hes not really given me any reason to feel like this. I also have such down days I feel like im a disgusting mess, going from being a size 12/ 14 reasonably attractive to the blob I now am. All attributed due the menopause and a illness which has reduced my mobility to the point of needing walking sticks in the house and a wheelchair when out at the shops etc. I had hoped starting HRT would help me with losing weight and becoming more rational as I once was.. to be the person I once was would be wonderful

Hi Cax I am sorry to hear how you are doing.

I understand completely. I have been going through the anxiety crap for 19 months.  Went on medication. but an weaning off slowly.  It has been a nightmare. Hardest thing I have ever done

The anxiety starts the moment I wake up.  SO many physical symptoms.

Family does not understand....That is the crushing part of this horror

Sorry you are feeling so poorly!  I related to the menopause symptoms along with mobility issue.  It is a double dose of misery.  I am hoping for us to feel normal again.  I feel bad for my family because I don't feel like much a mother and wife sometimes.
