Anxiety with fibromyalgia and ibsC

After trying various SSRI's with horrible side effects, I am thinking of having Hypnotherapy to see if that helps my anxiety which hopefully will ease the Fibromyalgia pain. Feel like trying anything at the moment.

Has anyone tried this method?

i hope it helps but i have never tried it; the problem with fibro, is there are so many variables that could be causing the pain but will never show up on standard lab work; but anything that helps reduce stress, you would think would help the fibro pain

    Hi Patricia

sorry that you are having a bad time at the moment. I was only diagnosed 2 weeks ago but if the pain gets too much I will definately use hypnosis. All through my teens I had fits, which was put down to epilepsy. I was pretty spaced ou on tablets for 7 years. I still had the fits. As a last resort I went to a hypnotherapist and my fits stopped completely. He explained that they were caused by extreme anxiety. It was. Definately the right choice for me. Linda

its only when u come to do the hypnosis that u realise how tense you were.

    Hi Patricia,

Please keep us updated on the hypnotherapy. I am 20 and have tried absolute everything since I was diagnosed 2011. I am so desperate for any sort of relief. This is the first forum I have ever joined and am hoping to find some sort of new methods to try and reduce my symptoms.

I find pilates breathing helps to relax me and also makes getting off to sleep easier. I don't do pilates (yet), but found the breathing exercises online.

Hello, I am new to this site and believe it will be a help to read about others affected as I am by this syndrome.  I am one to have to have a scientific diagnosis about every thing so it has been very difficult to be diagnosed with a disease that isn't supported by lab or radiology tests.  Eight years ago I was diagnosed after a very traumatic event but after a couple of years, the symptoms subsided and I had more or less "forgotten" about it.  A year and a half ago my brother whom I was very close to committed suicide, his wife followed six months later and I lost my 33 year old daughter this year unexpectedly.  Following the death of my brother last year and this year, the pain has been so bad that nothing seems to relieve it.  I never have an unbroken night of sleep and the fatigue is overwhelming.  I am reluctant to speak with anyone about this because there is obviously still a social stigma attached to this relatively new, possibly psychologically based disease process.   I believe just having someone to speak to will help me try to cope.  I feel as if something inside me has died and as if I am drowning in the pain and fatigue.

are you have been through it , makes perfect sense that the symptoms have reared up so bad.

talk to the sameratins they are very good. and surportive

all i can say is when i am under stress my symptoms flare big time, when my dad died i developed shingles on top of my fibbro .

an experience i dont want to repeat.

get a handel on the pain ,then you can sort out your head. you can request coqanitve therepy which is a talking therepy dealing with the here and now , comeing to terms with your life as it is and learning how to cope with it. PAIN fill a hot bath and add epsom salts and have a good long soak to relax your muscles .

I am so so sorry for all your losses of loved ones; you must be suffering tremendously; you have been through so much ...

I had to go to group grief counseling after my mothers sudden yealong illness, watching her deteoriorate; the counseling actually helped me cope but there were some days I had to take time off from work; I never thought i would be able to deal with it but I have; it has taken about 5 years; I have had positive experience with psychiatric help and I know there is still some social stigma but if it helps me to live life better then what does it matter; eventually almost everyone is going to need some type of mental health help;;Good luck and my heart goes out for you

My heart goes out to you for losses, my father died when he was 42 and my mother had really bad health and had to care for her for many years besides a husband and son to care for, I am now suffering from anxiety,  fibromyalgia with ibs. My husband is 82 and in poor health, find every day is a challenge just to get through it. I think talking to other people with the same problems helps a lot, getting different ideas how to cope on a day to day basis, I know I am fed explaining to people what fibromyalgia is.

its very difficult to find  medications that suit you, but it is best to try them and see, I am giving antidepressants a miss a the moment, because my body is so sensitive all I get are the side effects and no benefits, but everyone is different.

i do hope you are able to find something to give you help you sleep and find some peace. I find the fatigue very overwhelmingoverwhelming
