Anxiety worse during menstruation?

Does anyone find their anxiety gets a billion times worse during their period?

I've had a really bad day today. My heart feels like it's racing constantly and I've just felt terrified all day. I don't know if a racing heart or palpitations are linked to menstruation. That's the only link I can make!

Does anyone else go through this and do you know how to reduce the symptoms of anxiety when they're there seemingly without cause?

I had bloods and an ecg in A&E 3 days ago so I'm really fighting the urge to call a doctor right now.

Yes!! My anxiety is always so much worse when I'm on my period! My ways of calming down are to take a hot bath (helps with cramps too) and just drinking lots of water. This is silly but my friend showed me when you have an anxiety attack to look for 5 things in the room. Touch 4 things. Smell 3 things. Hear 2 things and taste one thing. It helps make you feel like you're in control when you start to feel anxious.

Omg so before my anxiety got bad I actually loved getting my periods (i know that's weird) but it was like a reset for my body. Like if I felt weird or sick, whenever my period was done I would feel "normal". Idk if that makes sense.

BUT the last time I had my period I was freaking out more, and crying like everyday, so yes now my anxiety gets worse with my period.

Yes definitely. I always know when I'm due on because I have two days of horrible anxiety, palpitations, light headedness, dizzy then the next day an awful migraine then my period starts. I hate it because my cycle is three weekly so I feel that I only ever get a week and a half of normal (whatever that is) I just have to reassure myself that it is only because oft period and it will soon pass. It's obviously hormone related. My sister swears by evening primrose but I have never got round to trying it. I might buy some and see if it helps, the trouble is I am always frightened of taking things invade they make my anxiety worse! Has anyone here had any success with evening primrose?
