your GFR suggests you are at Stage 4 Renal Disease (usually with the correct intervention you can stop it from progressing to Stage 5) the potassium can be and most likely will be controlled with medication, and your can also be controlled with medication (the itch is due to a build of creatine and other toxins) main thing is to make sure you're not eating too much protein, most people dont realize even a healthy person should only eat 0.08 grams per body kilogram (meaning an 100 kilogram person should only eat maxium 80 grams of protein from all sources, also know that things like non animal protein are a killer for renal disease because the kidneys really struggle to remove it.

just curious why they took you of BP med..., the kidneys are directly attached to the Aorta, and high blood pressure damages renal function and vise-versa, renal disease effects BP.

try not to worry, my mother's GFR is only 5%, and so far she has no itching, or illness, and isn't on dialysis ..., but i have found Renal Disease is so specific to the individual and what is true for someone isnt true for someone else

thank you... I also feel quite sick sometimes... they took my B/P meds off me to see if it's affecting the potassium..said lesser of 2 evils when I questioned it.... says will reintroduce slowly....

OK understood, but I believe they are wrong about BP causing your high potassium, your kidneys regulate potassium and sodium and when kidneys don't work well potassium rises.., the sickness you feel is most certainly due to high creatine not being removed by kidneys, this is one reason why you must educate yourself on protein intake, and don't over indulge... Also I'm curious did your illness come upon you slowly or quickly..... I'm guessing it happened quickly, when creatine builds up slowly you can tolerate a lot of the symptoms but a fast increase will tend to make you very sick very quick..

Also they are wrong about the lesser of two evils..., the lesser of the two evils would be to keep you on the BP med and medicate you for high potassium until they know for certain.... Anyway I'm sure you've got a referral to a Specialist 3 who is will clarify all of this

you need to learn to meditate, i can reduce by heart beat by 20 beats per minute when i'm meditating, and the subconscious mind is so closely linked to the immune system.

so try not to worry, and learn how to meditate, a few days of your meds wont kill you as quick as stress will. trust me more people have died from stress then renal failure.

regarding your father, yes it's true Dialysis can cause heart disease, that's why you need to avoid it if you can, and see a specialist, and do whatever you can to stop further decline, but do not worry, worry will just make you sick,

what is your creatinine level ?
