Any different medication I could use?

I have Spinal Stenosis and I would like to learn about any suitable pain relief, what do you take which relieves your symptoms?  I already take two Paracetamols and 1 to 4 Codeine .. the thing is the Codeine gives me terrible constipation and I wondered if there was anything else I could take. i realise that any potent tabs would lead to constipation, but just wondered if there was anything around that was not as severe. Thanks a lot everyone!

    Victoria,

Any pain meds will give you constipation unfortunately, I am on methadone for pain as it was founded as relief to serve pain, also I take oxycotin as a break through pain in between the methadone, they have a constipation med called amitza it works pretty good for such constipation from the opioids. I get it by prescription from my Dr. Something to look into.

Best wishes and hopefully a pain free life soon

Hi, Victoria:  I have scoloiosis and spinal stenosis.  I take three Tramadol (Ultram) and when I get really bad I take Lyrica...I would take Lyrica every day because it takes all the pain away for a whole day, but it has some side effects that I don't really like.  I hope this helps...I live in constant pain, but I do have a good day every once in a while..Sleep is the only thing that makes me painless....Hope you feel better...HUGS.

Get your gp to prescribe gabapentin

start with a low dose & build it up

tramadol is also useful, again start with a low dose
