Any good surgeons?

I recently had my third knee surgery. The first surgery was for my acl, and the next 2 were for scar tissue removal. Unfortunately, my leg looks and feels like how it was after thr 2nd surgery. I'm still not satisfied witht the extension and still putting pressure on the kneecap when walking, which results in pain.

Doew anyone know any great surgeons who know what they're doing when it comes to arthrofibrosis?

    Hi rater depends on where you're and if you want to travel. My surgeon in Truro by the name of Lee did mine in September '15, he's brilliant. I've had no trouble with mine at all. I'm 69. He work out of the Duchy Hospital, Truro, Cornwall.

    My consultant at the Chilterns hospital is brilliant( he did my second op),his name is Mr Mcelroy, he removed my ACL, scar tissue, blood and fluid, I now have 140 degrees of movement in 5 weeks ( also with private physio), compared to the 40 degrees of movement after my first NHS. He will be doing my ACL reconstruction.

      P.s I'm 40, and didn't think I would be able to walk properly again until I met my consultant.

      what's nhs, and was your problem extension or flexion, and did it hurt when you were walking before

      I ruptured my ACL and tore all my meniscus, I couldn't flex or extended my knee, my knee was lock with the arthrofibrosis (scar tissue), I couldn't walk only hobble, it was really painful. NHS is a public health care system where you don't pay for treatment, but in my case the consultant under the NHS wasn't great, which is why I went privately. My consultant has several cases like me at the moment, which "captured knee" where the scar tissue attaches itself to internal parts of the knee. I'm now 5 weeks post surgery, have been back to work, my physio is working a gym routine out for me, my walkings now as it was before the op, but I can walk without pain. Hopefully I will be having my next op on August for the reconstruction, by then my walking will be better.

      wow, thats amazing!! i live in canada, but if i do end up getting another surgery it woulb in in the U.S. do you know how much it costs to have a surgery for arthrofibrosis

      I think my surgery was about £10,000 but I've got health care insurance, and was in hospital 3 days on a CPM machine and had an epidural as my hamstring had shrunk by 3-4 inches and my leg hadnt had proper movement for 3 and a half months. You need to find a surgeon that specialises in arthrofibrosis and understands it, and that you feel confident in. Keep me updated, it's nice to chat to someone with the same condition as me. :-)
