Any Help For "Lazy" Bladder?

Posted , 2 users are following.

I am a 77 year old man.  In 2003 I camr down with something called  Cauda Equina Syndrome.  This is a form of spinal stenosis that crushes nerves in the spine.  It should be operated on IMMEDIATELY but thanks to the STUPIDITY of American doctors it went undiagnosed for a MONTH!

The nerves to BOTH my elimination organs were rendered useless.  Fortunately I found a great surgeon that saved me and my functions were restored.

Fast forward to 2016:  I displayed symptoms of Beningn Prostate Enlargement showing the euretha being squeezed so naturally they operated to "clear the way."  The operation was a success but NOTHING CHANGED!  I WAS suffering from BPH but there was something else.  I was/am suffering from residual nerve damage to the bladder from the 2003 spinal damage.  This, plus the weaking that comes with old age has left my bladder to be unable to fully complete its mission to contract totally to void the bladder.  I have some good days and others where I have to use my abdominal muscles to squeeze and pump manually to void.

My UR doctor is making arrangement to be a self cather when I need to be so I don't have to endure getting a foley at an ER.

That's my story.

Does anyone know if there are exercises or formal exercise programs to cause the bladder to function better?

Thank you.
