Any help is appreciated

This may be a very dumb question but can I kiss someone and have sex with them if I do not have any active outbreaks? Still new to this disease so I'm still learning. Oh and I am not on any suppressive therapy and would use a condom.

What type do you have. If it is oral than it is still possible to pass it on even if you don't have any symptoms. I have HSV-1 genitals and that's how I got it. The guy had no symptoms but somehow I managed to still get it. I'm still learning as well. Was just diagnosed about 5 months ago. I have a hard time finding any info on my situation specifically. They say it's better to have this one than HSV-2 but to me they are both just as devastating. Don't know if this helps or not but that is the info I have. Inhave heard that it is harder for a woman to pass it on to a male.

I have type 1 herpes, I'm not sure if I have it orally. I have yet to experience my first outbreak (I think, nothing ever popped up on my face.) And yes I have heard type 1 is easier to manage than type 2. I'm a male

How do you know that you have it again, without having had an actual outbreak? Just by IgG test? What makes you think it's new?

I ask myself that all the time lol. I got really sick about two weeks after having unprotected sex with a girl one day so I decided to get tested for all possible STD's and tested positive for chlamydia and my IGG test score was a 1.38 which said it was positive. I was told this about almost 2 months ago.

You can retest to see whether your IgG has gone up in the interim. If it has gone up a lot in 2+ months, it's probably a new infection, otherwise it could well be an existing one. I would not be too concerned about where it is if you've never had any obvious symptoms. Just remain vigilant and use condoms anyway. Lol, I'd be more concerned about the chlamydia! (Doesn't always clear with one treatment, apparently.) Out of interest, did the girl test and get treated for chlamydia as well?

Okay, should I get that IgG test done asap or wait a couple more weeks since its been two months? And I'll get tested for the Chlamydia as well, just to make sure its gone. And I had two sexual partners in the past 3 months so I told them both to get checked. 1 did and she is herpe free (I used a condom that time) but she did have Chlamydia. The other girl said she "got tested" and will "pray" for me lol. I think she gave it to me and didn't bother telling me before our sexual encounter.

It's up to you whether you wish to retest by IgG, but it might at least give some indication as to whether it's recent or not. You can wait up to 3-4 months post-exposure, if you prefer.

Sorry to hear about you having type 2. From what I got from researching they don't normal give type 1 people suppressive therapy because its not as bad as type 2. I will look into it more and thank you.

That is correct. You don't need daily suppressive meds, unless you're one of the unlucky few (10%, I believe) who get multiple outbreaks with gHSV-1, but then you've not even had your first outbreak yet! I wouldn't take the meds if I were you. Type 2 is regrettably a different matter.

Question? I asked my doc about supressive therapy n she said it was for pregnant women is that true?? Cus I don't want my husband to catch it when he gets out of prison or will he still catch it?

Daily suppressive meds are also for reducing sexual transmission and minimising outbreaks in those with frequent recurrences, so it is not just for pregnancy to reduce neonatal infection. Only usually required by those with genital Type 2, not Type 1.

The type 2 is down there right?? And I wanted to take these meds but she, would not prescribe them to me maybe it should see someone else? And this meds will help by not passing or? Sorry I'm new to this

You can get Type 1 or Type 2 down there (or up there). Number means the virus type, not the location. You should confirm which type you have, in case you're not sure, since as noted here, you only really need the meds to reduce transmission if you have genital Type 2.

Daily suppressive meds reduce outbreaks and shedding, and thus sexual transmission. Not 100%, but the meds help a lot, and even more so with condoms. In any case, always avoid sex if you have any signs of lesions, tingling, itching related to herpes, etc. Even on the meds, breakthroughs can sometimes occur, so vigilance and body awareness is important.

Yes, there is a possiblity to transmit the virus to your partner, although the risk is lower when you do not have an outbreak there is still the viral shedding that occurs and can spread.
