The things I've heard of help a bit. Very hard to explain as they don't get rid of the itch as such but seem to make it more bearable in some way, can't really explain tbh.

I use apple cider vinegar. Now I've no idea how safe it is but I do know it bloody hurts like mad but afterwards the itch is so much easier, not sure I wish to say gone though a couple of times it seems to have, but that could be due to the pain, as in the pain takes away the itch.

Witch Hazel is another that helps a bit. I've read your only supposed to use it twice a day so I've no idea if it's dangerous and why only twice a day? I mean you can get wipes to clean after going to the toilet and they'll be used more than twice a day for some people.

I do know if you try anything that if the itch gets worse stop staright away.

Have you tried capsaicin cream or blue menthol or something like that? Both are fairly new and I'm not sure if all the medical people know about them. Mind the medical people are basically useless on this subject.

Forgot to say people who make manuka honey claim that they can cure the itch. Also I've heard people claim emu oil is good for all sorts of skin disorders.

If you do find anything that helps please do let us know.

Also banana peel is supposed to stop any itching, including anal itch. Tried it a couple of times but never really did it long enough to see if it worked. It defo stings like hell though.

Ok, put 'aloe vera pruritus ani' into your google search engine, nothing else just those words. I did this and an interesting herb site claims its good for pruritus ani. If it is any good I'd guess the actual plant is better than buying the crap health shops sell as you don't really know what process they've been through.
