Any home remedies for pill replacement?

Posted , 6 users are following.

I work for a crappy company with crappy insurance. All of a sudden they refuse to pay for my Januvia, and I ran out today.

I've emailed my Dr., but will probably be Wednesday before I hear from him.

Are there any "home remedies" that can substitute for Januvia for a few days?

Will I be ok if I don't have this medication until I'm able to get a replacement?

Thanks

There are many supplements that help balance blood sugar. Artichokes, leafy greens, chromium picolinate, magnesium, boron, a good mulitivitamin and multimineral can help a lot.

For my mother, I used boron, berberine and citrus bergamont with extremely good results.

    good luck, hope it helps!

Hmmm. Eating spinach and kale and such wouldn't be out of the question. Do they have to be raw or would cooking them destroy whatever is in them that would help?

Is the boron, berberine and citrus bergamont a vitamin pill or liquid? Is this all one item, or did you have to buy them separate? If it is a vitamin or supplement tablet, what brand makes it?

      Thanks for the info!!!

What was your blood glucose reading on the Januvia, and now off it?

What kind of diet have you been on while on the Januvia, how many carbs per day, per meal? What kind of exercise.

There is no dietary replacement, exactly.

But you can always work on your diet and exercise.

    Have you tried cinnamon?

    Have you tried green tea?

    Have you tried (deglycyrrhizinated) licorice?

My blood sugars are usually 150-250, sometimes lower.

I just ran out of pills today, so I'm just wondering what I can do until I get to my dr. appointment on friday.

    Cut out ALL carbohydrates.

HumptyD is right about the carbs. While at her worst, I limited my mother's carbs to two small slices of gluten free bread and two small servings of fruit per day. Low glycemic fruits are best- berries, apricots. You can do an online search for low gycemic fruits.

A strict gluten free diet also seems to help.

Ideally, you want a gluten free, Paleo style diet.

Don't drink alcohol, don't have any sugar including fruit/ fruit juices, don't have any white bread or pasta. Check sugar content in all your food including things like tomato sauces and ready meals, keep everything under 8 grams a day.
