Any hope for this?

I'm 47, male, and had no previous health problems. About a month ago, I woke up with a sour taste in my mouth that wouldn't go away. Then a week later came terrible heartburn and tingling in my chest. Doctor sent me for stress test--all negative. I decided to go to G.I. doctor who did endoscopy. Results were small hiatal hernia and suspicion for Barrett's. PPIs help symptoms somewhat but give me constipation. I have felt unwell the whole time, can't work, and have withdrawn from family and friends. They don't understand. This all feels so hopeless. I feel like my life has been completely ruined in the space of a month. I see no cure other than a hard surgery. Is there any hope?

There has to be hope. I've been suffering for 5 months now. PPI's don't help me. I haven't been able to work either, it's terrible. I have an appt with a new dr this week, hoping to get answers.

yes! I had the same as you. Whatever you do don't get nissen fundoplication for hital hernia. It ruins lives even worse. I went see Dr Farid Gharagozloo in Florida. He fixed my hital hernia. Put everything back the way it was and fixed my LES valve so no more relfux. Google him. The man is a genius and I'm not selling anything. I am just trying to pay it forward because he saved my life

m really interested how he did it too.I had nissan and it served me well for 15years but has now relaxed too much and I am back to square 1.
PPIs are not working.
I still cant vomit or burp(i found that a small price to pay for 15 years of comfort) but would have liked it re done. I didnt realise that there was another valve repair technique.
can you attach more info here? (what the technique is called etc)

The surgery is called Esophageal Valvuloplasty. You can google Farid Gharagozloo and also find information on YouTube. I also created a fb group to get the word out. The group is called Nissen Alternative/Esophageal Valvuloplasty. There are many patients also who had it done

I had 2 failed nissen. Since I had the Esophageal Valvuloplasty I can burp and throw up again like a normal person. No more reflux. He pushes the stomach up and the esophagus down like 2 cm to create a valve kinda like a tube sock. He uses dissolvable stitches and mesh. You eat and drink like a normal person. I got my life back. The nissen almost killed me. Had I know about EV I would of had it done a long time ago and saved alot of heartache and pain. That's why I'm getting the word out there so I can pay it forward by help others.
