Hi, Ive been suffering from hs in both sides of my groin for 11 or so years now, only got diagnosed last year as to start they said it was 'just an infection' it was only when i went back and they seen the scarring that i got my answers, i see, to get them in the exact same place time and time again so much so the scars are inwards and a black colour. Ive been on countless courses of anti biotics for months at a time, the last lot being so strong that 3 days in i felt really drunk all the time, slurring light headed and couldnt hold my own head up. I have these 'boils' constantly as one is calming down another one is coming up, ive had my current one for 3 weeks and its just an open sore mess atm, havent been able to get dressed the last few days had to wear pj's constantly and not getting hardly any sleep. Hadnt told anyone apart from family wat was happening so to friends i just looked like id poo'd myself walking down the street as its so difficult to walk 'normally'. i did start taking tumeric capsules two weeks ago but havent really seen an improvement and after taking one without food i hiccuped all powder came out my nose and i was sick outside tesco (classy). its got to the point where its affecting my marriage too, my poor hubby spent our honeymoon putting dressings on my groin instead of ya know the other stuff, the poor guy married a nun!!! any advice anyone has that i could try would be so much appreciated i will try anything. xxx

Hello. I can sympathise with you~although it's not sympathy you want,it's help. I've suffered from HS for 30 plus years. It's really painful and difficult to treat. Also it's not a complaint you can share with friends! After a really bad flare up on holiday about 6 years ago, which made it difficult to walk,I finally went to my GP. He didn't have a clue what it was and referred me to a dermatologist. She diagnosed HS and also PCOS(apparently HS can be a symptom of PCOS). She prescribed lotions and cream and antibiotics. I've found there is no "cure",but I manage to keep it under control~just. I've read about turmeric but haven't tried it.You don't say if you're seeing a dermatologist. If not,ask your GP to refer you to one~preferably one that specialises in HS. I wish you well. Connie

Hi connie, i've started seeing a herbalist as to be honest my doctors arent really helping i was referred to a dermatologist but after waiting 3 months for an appointment they weren't much help, pretty much just told me what i already knew and gave me hibiscrub to clean the open wounds with which just burnt my skin to pieces. im also looking into finding a private hs specialist in the area as at 23 i have no social life at all, getting dressed up isnt much fun if you walk with your legs wide open!! i'm going to keep going with the tumeric (with food this time) and read about copper underwear so may give that ago too. dont think i shall be bothering with my gp anymore as im sick of being fobbed off with anti biotics, so hopefully i'll locate a specialist soon x
