I have had red patches on my penis gland for around 2 weeks, I have used Alovera Cream, Sudocrem and E45 moisturiser and nothing seems to work. I am circumcised 23 year old. I got a STD test and heard nothing back so I am clean, it doesnt itch, no soreness.

Masturbated yesterday and today I noticed soe snall spots, any idea what it could be ?

Hi Jack. On the surface, it looks like you were bitten by something. When one is cut as you are, the frequency of this can increase if location of sleeping has changed. Have you had occasion to sleep anywhere other that your usual bed in recent times? Also, do you wear clothing to bed? I suggest that you wear clean underwear, preferable briefs, to bed over the coming nights, to keep your glands protected from contact with bed mites. The symptoms should subside in a few days. Just a note of advice: as you are circumcised you have to be careful of such types of bites and infestation as the skin is very delicate and easy to penetrate by such microbes. If you have a photo of the underside of your penis that you care to post, I can look to see if this might be a possibility. You poor guy. It's more of a discomfort than anything else, but looks like a bad bite. By the way, I am recommending briefs rather that boxers as with briefs your penis will be contained during night time erections and will not "fall out" as happens when erections happen in looser garments such as boxers. Whatever you do, don't try to squeeze the spots. Also, thy to avoid masturbation for a few days so as to reduce the friction and inevitable spread of the infestation. Especally so as you have no foreskin to lubricate or protect the exposed glands. Regards, Michael

Hi Michael, no I haven't changed where I sleep, but I have been sleeping naked for a while, and I do have cats or dogs sleeping on my bed during the day, so maybe your right, I'll start wearing boxers, I don't own briefs, and see if it helps. The spots are barly visble to be honest, here are more photos.

[By the way its "glans" not "glands"]  I would guess that it's something as MK suggests particularly if you sleep [as do many of us] with helpful animals on the bed.  Bites, mites ....

Most of us have minor changes from time to time of our genitals.  Yours looks pretty normal and absolutely nothing to worry about!

Apologies, that was a typo with the predictive text. Didn't realise I would be corrected on something like that when I was simply trying to offer advice and the message was clearly understood, despite the typographical error!

Jack, the photos look just fine. It increasing points to a bite or minor infestation of sorts. Keep in clean and dry, and avoid any friction either with clothing or through masturbation for a few days, and it will heal itself. Wear boxers to bed for a few days until the symptoms subside. If you were not circumcised, you might not even have suffered this, as the foreskin is more difficult for the bed mites to penetrate. Best of luck man!

When were you circumcised? I very sadly had to be circumcised as an adult in 2002 and although I had problems with infection at the site of the sutures and later with meatal stenosis (a not uncommon complication from circumcision), I have never had a problem with my permanently exposed glans -  except increasing loss of sensitivety which makes me wish I could have my foreskin back again!

Since you wisely had a STD test and it proved negative, if anything else was evedently wrong you would have been told. Balanitis is a possibility but very unlikely. It's probably no more than some discolouration on the glans. We are all made differently 'down there'.

By the way, 'glans' is the medical term for the head of the penis. It's not a 'gland' though we have many glands elsewhere in our body: just not on our penis!

    Hi again Jack -

Oh. and your penis looks perfectly normal (or as 'normal' as any can be after circumcision).

Apart from a very low scar line it looks similar to mine. Which makes me ask if you have any pain when erect? Your low scar line indicates a very 'tight' circumcision where even some shaft skin may have been removed. Is your frenulum still intact? Do you experience 'morning wood' without a problem?

I'm asking these questions because they could have some bearing upon your condition.

    Christopher
