Any ideas for paronychia treatment (currently on antibiotics)?

Hi everyone, I have developed paronychia on the big toe. I tried to treat it myself with soaking/anticeptic cream etc for 2 months before I decided to go to my local doctor.

I am currently on day 3 of antibiotics (Flucloxacillin 500mg 4 times a day for 6 days) and am putting iodine on the wound area twice per day.

Both my doctor and I want to avoid surgical intervention.

Are there any other things that you could recommend that I do in the meantime in addition to what I'm currently doing? And what do you think, given the way things look now, would be the likely way forward with this?

Thank you all in advance for your advice.

It sounds as though you are doing everything possible. Just one thought occurred to me. Are your shoes big enough? If you have worn the same size for years you may need a half size bigger.

Go without shoes or wear open sandals as much as you can...it will help the healing process.
